Recap / Adventure Time S 6 E 14 Princess Day

Go To

It's Princess Day in Ooo! You know what that means? Yep, LSP and Marceline team up to prank Breakfast Princess!

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The only episode of season 6 that features Marceline as a major character, at all.
  • Alpha Bitch: Breakfast Princess, she even has the voice down.
  • Big "NO!": PB texts one to Marcy, after Marcy tells her that she and LSP are up to no good.
  • Bilingual Bonus: LSP incapacitates a Syrup Guard by squirting grapefruit juice in his face. "Pamplemousse", which Breakfast Princess used as an insult for LSP, is French for grapefruit.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: It's discussed that the Slime Kingdom exports eggs to the rest of Ooo which, if Slime Princess is any indication, are laid by its citizens.
  • Cool Big Sis: Breakfast Princess for Strudel Princess.
  • Continuity Nod: Marcy's Skewed Priorities about only feeling bad for taking the CD is her remembering Simon telling her vandalism is wrong.
  • Dig Your Own Grave: Subverted. LSP and Marcy, after they take Breakfast Princess out of the trunk, throw a shovel in front of her and say it's "for digging". But they just need her to build a sandcastle so the two of them can drive away and leave her in the desert.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Marceline and LSP trash Breakfast Princess's bedroom and wardrobe, steal her favorite CD, assault her guards, vandalize her castle, strand her in the desert, and destroy her car. They do all this because Breakfast Princess was mean to Lumpy Space Princess for showing up uninvited to Princess Day.
  • Double Entendre:
    • Peanut Princess won't give Muscle Princess any of her "nut butter". She means peanut butter, but it's also a synonym for a certain bodily fluid exclusive to males.
    • Marceline tells a panicking LSP to "calm her lumps". Considering that LSP is always paranoid that men "want her lumps", it's probably a takeoff on the expression "calm your tits".
  • I Take Offense to That Last One: When Breakfast Princess makes fun of her for living in a box in the woods, Lumpy Space Princess objects that she lives in a rotten log, not a box.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While she didn't have to be so catty about it, Breakfast Princess has a right to be upset with Lumpy Space Princess showing up to Princess Day uninvited and interrupting a trade dispute to whine about being bored. She also rightly calls LSP out for being a "freeloader" with no sense of responsibility.
  • Karma Houdini: LSP and Marceline receive no comeuppance for any of their actions, despite Marceline sending PB texts telling her what they were doing.
  • Oh, Wait!: Breakfast Princess to LSP.
Breakfast Princess: Not all of us have achieved the self-sufficiency that I assume you have in your kingdom. Oh wait, that's right, you don't have a kingdom!
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Subverted, Breakfast Princess recognizes LSP and Marceline through their flimsy paper plate masks.
  • Punk in the Trunk: LSP and Marceline stuff Breakfast Princess in the trunk of her own car after accidentally knocking her out.
  • Shout-Out: The ending is a reference to the Bolivian Army Ending of Thelma & Louise, but LSP and Marcy don't die because they can both fly.
  • Skewed Priorities: Of all the bad things they did, LSP and Marceline only feel bad about stealing the CD, not beating up and almost killing several people (though at least they were relieved that they had, in fact, not killed anyone), kidnapping, or stealing and (accidentally) destroying a car.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Breakfast Princess's cute little sister, Toast Princess, has been replaced by a different cute little sister, Strudel Princess.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: When LSP and Marceline's ransacking alerts the Breakfast Kingdom's guards, one of them decides to open door veeeery slowly. This gives the two troublemakers time to plan an escape.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Breakfast Princess thinks it's a great idea to stop a moving car by standing in its way. The car wins, but she survives.
  • Uninvited to the Party: LSP's desire for revenge is caused by feeling humiliated by not having been invited to the Princess Day event.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We don't see how or if Breakfast Princess made it back to her kingdom.
