Due to the fact that she is now de-aged to 13 years old, Princess Bubblegum's past creation, the Earl of Lemongrab, tries to claim the throne.
Tropes
- Bedsheet Ghost: Finn and Princess Bubblegum stage a 'prank' on Earl Lemongrab by dressing up as bedsheet ghosts, running up to Lemongrab and punching him in the stomach, then shoving him to the floor.
- Bittersweet Ending: Bubblegum transforms back to her 18-year-old self in order to regain control of the kingdom, but though she somewhat misses living as a 13-year-old, she hurts Finn's feelings in her haste to push her own aside and get back to the business of ruling.
- Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: Bubblegum accidentally invents a potion that's unbearably spicy while trying to create a cleanliness potion. She allows Finn to test it, then later uses it to prank Lemongrab.
- Determinator: No amount of painful pranking dissuades Lemongrab from holding onto his regency, until Princess Bubblegum finds a way to get back to her normal age so she's legally the ruler of the Candy Kingdom again.
- Eye Scream: Princess Bubblegum accidentally drops some of her spicy serum into Peppermint Butler's eye.
- Hypocritical Humor: When Peppermint Butler freaks out about getting an eyeful of spicy stuff, Lemongrab shrieks at him "Stop screaming! Why are you screaming?!"
- Made of Iron: Lemongrab falls head first out of the tower and lands hard enough to bury his entire head in the ground, but is apparently unharmed.
- The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: When Bubblegum is in her younger body, she seems much more interested in ignoring her royal responisbilities to have fun with Finn and more likely to go along with his prank ideas, as well as possibly more open to reciprocating his feelings. Once she's aged up again, she's instantly more focused on her duties and finds Finn's more adolescent temperament "silly."
- Rube Goldberg Machine: Finn and P-Bubs build a contraption that will simultaneously wake Lemongrab from his nap and display a note reading, "You really smell like dog buns", in the hopes that it will anger him enough to leave. It only pisses of him off more, though.
- Sentenced Without Trial: Following Lemongrab taking over the Candy Kingdom, he starts arbitrarily sentencing and imprisoning people within the dungeons (for anything between a few hours and a million years). Flat-out lampshaded towards the end when he imprisons everyone, with him ending the sentence by declaring "no trials!"
- Ship Sinking: Princess Bubblegum rather hastily breaks off her budding relationship with Finn once she's 18 again.
- Ship Tease: Finn and 13-year-old Bubblegum are very close. It doesn't last, alas.
- Status Quo Is God: In order to reclaim her kingdom, Princess Bubblegum changes back into her 18-year-old self.
- Tyrant Takes the Helm: Lemongrab seizes power from Princess Bubblegum and immediately starts pushing around the Candy People and sending people to the dungeon for arbitrary reasons.
- Why Don't Ya Just Shoot Him?: Princess Bubblegum and Finn's next prank after the Rube Goldberg Machine fails is to dress up as ghosts and just straight-up commit physical assault on Lemongrab, however this doesn't work either.
