Tropes
- Accidental Proposal: Jake and Finn have rescued the Princesses from the Ice King and are taken them home when Finn makes a vague remark that the Slime Princess interprets as a proposal and accepts. Finn is too startled to say anything so Jake comes up with an Embarrassing Cover-Up to persuade the Slime Princess that she doesn't want to marry him.
- Blatant Lies: The princesses all agreeing that they're happy being imprisoned by the Ice King, right after he assures Finn he would've killed them if they weren't.
- Call-Back: This episode has several instances of what appear to be references to [[the pilot: The plot is again to rescue princesses from the Ice King (except this time it's everyone but Princess Bubblegum). They run into the Snow Golem and Iceclops, and the Ice King has a hallucination in which he meets the Cosmic Owl after falling unconscious (and like Finn, he refuses to listen, perhaps because he thought the Cosmic Owl was actually Jake).Cosmic Owl: "You're a sociopath."
- The Cameo: Several princesses including Embryo Princess, Princess Princess Princess, Ghost Princess and Raggedy Princess make their debuts in this episode.
- Embarrassing Cover Up: Jake convinces Slime Princess not to marry Finn by claiming that Finn "pees his pants, like, all the time."
- Letting the Air out of the Band: Finn tries to throw a flute at the Ice King, but the dramatic music that plays peters out as the flute falls apart in mid-flight.
- Noodle Incident: Jake says that Finn's flute was broken because "we tried using it to pick the lock to that sad ogre's heart."
- Stockholm Syndrome: Finn, Jake and the Princesses fake this in order to get the Ice King to drop his guard and escape.
