- Cloud Cuckooland: Lumpy Space is a world of floating, strangely-colored cloud islands where the natives all act like gossipy teenagers.
- Fantastic Racism: Lumpy Spacers aren't fond of "non-lumpers" entering Lumpy Space, and look down on smooth folk.
- Heroic Willpower: Subverted, when Jake declares he's managing to fight the lumpification down with sheer willpower. Immediately after he says this, the transformation suddenly advances.
- High-School Dance: Finn ends up having to crash the "Promcoming Dance" to cure Jake.
- Immediate Self-Contradiction: Jake assures Finn he'll never turn his back on him. Immediately afterward he turns completley lumpy and runs off with LSP, gesturing to Finn as he says "I just totally gotta turn my back on this guy."
- The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Turning into a Lumpy Spacer makes a person act and think like one, regardless of their previous opinions or attitude.Finn: I can feel the lumpiness about to consume me!(Finn turns lumpy)Lumpy Finn: Oh, yeah! Being lumpy is the best!

- Skewed Priorities: LSP promises to help cure Jake of the lumps, but she's not much help, even when she's actually trying.
- Skyward Scream: When it looks like Jake will be stuck as a Lumpy Spacer, a frustrated Finn yells "I'LL KILL YOU, LUMPY SPACE!"
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Just as Finn is about to receive the Lumpy antidote from the people at Makeout Point, LSP shows up and insults them, pissing them off.
- Valley Girl: The denizens of Lumpy Space have this attitude. And speak like it, including Jake and Finn when they're transformed.
- The Virus: Getting bitten by a Lumpy Space Person apparently causes one to turn into a Lumpy Spacer themselves.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Finn and LSP trade shots with this after Finn loses the antidote. Finn screams at LSP for screwing up how they almost got the antidote for Jake. LSP initially brushes this off, but then starts crying and yells at Finn she was honestly trying to help and thought Finn was one of the only real friends she had (compared to all her phony ones like Melissa).
