"How are we ever going to achieve world peace, if we can’t watch a show without becoming a bunch [of] Neanderthals?"
— The last sentence in a Wall of Text regarding The Flash (2014) shipping on tumblr

"There is the inevitable reaction, “Mike and Bryan just caved in to the fans.” Well, which fans? There were plenty of Makorra shippers out there, so if we had gone back on our decision and gotten those characters back together, would that have meant we caved in to those fans instead? Either direction we went, there would inevitably be a faction that was elated and another that was devastated. Trust me, I remember Kataang vs. Zutara. But one of those directions is going to be the one that feels right to us, and Mike and I have always made both Avatar and Korra for us, first and foremost. We are lucky that so many other people around the world connect with these series as well. Tahno playing trombone –– now that was us caving in to the fans!"

You're on the Canon ground,
I'm up in Crack Ship space!
Let's start a shipping war,
Don't care if I get hate!
Don't like my pairings? Well,
Then you can hit the bricks
This is my OTP,
I'll go down with this ship!

Shipping Wars! The never-ending debate over who should be going out with whom! Which paring a person supports says a lot about their personality and views on romance. Among BL aficionados, even the destinction between AxB and BxA has ended more than a few friendships. That's how important ships are.

"The internet's rife with footage of Spider-Man chasing the Black Cat across the rooftops, and apparently, there are hordes of people cheering them on. They're called 'shippers'- No, that has nothing to do with boats, it's short for 'relationship'. As in, they really want Spider-Man and the Black Cat to be together... romantically... or they really don't. And they have quite intense arguments about it. 'Flame wars', I believe is the term. You know in my day, we didn't have time for 'flame wars', about 'shipping', y'know why? BECAUSE WE HAD JOBS! So here's J. Jonah Jameson's public service announcement to our youth; You're into shipping? ...JOIN THE NAVY!"
