Hello from the Hallowoods is a weekly horror podcast created by William A. Wellman. It is narrated by Nikignik, an omnipresent narrator who can broadcast into people's dreams.

Each episode contains three short stories of the interconnected lives of the people of the Hallowoods, with themes of queer love and identity.

This podcast provides examples of:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Solomon finds himself immediately attracted to Ethel, considering her an angel. Ethel... does not reciprocate.
  • After the End: Takes place after an environmental disaster of some kind. Beyond that, something sure happened, considering the preponderance of supernatural phenomena in the Hallowoods. The something turns out to be the black rains, caused by the beating heart of Marolmar, a dead god. He had a tendency to change things, usually not for the better.
  • Artificial Human: Not!Riot, probably.
  • Big Damn Reunion: There are a lot of these throughout the podcast. Examples include Riot and Clara, Jonah and Hector, Diggory and Percy, and Polly, Yaretzi and Mort. This trope is also exploited by Botco and their 'reunion organisers when they' fake a reunion between Not!Riot and Valerie Maidstone in order to quell dissent from the rebel Stonemaids.
  • Cozy Voice for Catastrophes: Nikignik calmly tells of the horrors of the Hallowoods, only getting annoyed by the interruptions by Lady Ethel.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: Diggory Graves is a revenant made up of body parts from multiple people. Like the other revenants made by Granny Mend..
  • Cast Full of Gay: Most of the characters are LGBT.
  • The Dreaded: The Instrumentalist, otherwise known as Solomon Reed.
  • Eldritch Location: The Northern Hallowoods.
  • Evil, Inc.: The Botulus Corporation, usually known as Botco, a company that created and maintains the Dreaming Boxes.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Polly, short for Apollyon. This appears to be a pattern with representatives of the Industry, with other known members of the organisation being Barb (Barbatos) and Tiff (Typhon).
  • God Couple: Nikignik and Marolmar. At least, they were.
  • Ghostly Animals: Ghost dog Dogsmell, Clara’s loyal protector and pet.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Lady Ethel, The Instrumentalist, Granny Mend, Big Mikey, and many others.
  • Narrator: Nikignik.
  • The Mourning After: Nikignik is very clearly not yet over the death of his partner Marolmar, to the point of isolating himself from his other relationships. Indeed, his broadcasts appear, in large part, to be an attempt to keep his lover's memory alive by memorialising his last great work.
  • Pet the Dog: Solomon giving Percy clothes that he actually enjoys when transferring him over to another instrument. However, Solomon did this while misgendering Percy, and thinking that he shouldn’t encourage his delusion (namely, that Percy was a boy), so let’s not give him too much credit here.
  • Once an Episode: Lady Ethel Mallory from Botco interrupts Nikignik's broadcast each episode.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: There are several ghosts in the podcast, most notably Percy Reed. They have all been bound to an instrument by the Instrumentalist.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Yaretzi, a woman who has been granted longevity, healing power, strength and a wolf-like appearance by her god, Tolshatol, Who Guards a Thousand Suns.
  • Punny Name: Like all the revenants made by Irene Mend, Diggory Graves was named after their function - they were created to dig graves.
    • The Instrumentalist and his family have the surname 'Reed,' like the part of a wind instrument.
  • Signing Off Catchphrase: 'I am your loyal host Nikignik, waiting (adjective) for your return to the Hallowoods.'
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Yaretzi's partnership with Polly and Mort begins like this, due to both sides being willing to kill the other, but eventually this partnership becomes more of a found family.
  • Theme Naming: The Indescribables' names seem to follow a pattern of one three letter syllable, a two letter syllable, then the first three letters repeated. EX: Nik-ig-nik, Tol-sha-tol, Mar-ol-Mar.
  • Trans Tribulations: Percy is trans, and has to deal with his father refusing to accept his identity and deadnaming him.
  • Wham Line: Victoria gets one in episode 78 when she says, "That was when I killed Harrow.
