Basic Trope: A love interest zips up a woman's dress for her, and this is treated as a UST or Ship Tease moment.

  • Straight: Alice asks Bob to zip up her dress for her. He does, and his fingers linger on her bare skin.
  • Exaggerated: Alice asks Bob to help her put on every article of clothing.
  • Downplayed: Alice can't get the zipper all the way zipped up, so Bob gives a quick tug.
  • Justified: Alice cannot reach the zipper herself.
  • Inverted: Alice asks Bob to unzip her dress.
  • Gender-Inverted:
    • Bob is a Knight in Shining Armor. (Armor is famously hard to get on and off, to the point where squires existed specifically for that purpose.) Bob sends his squire away and asks Alice to help him instead.
    • Can't Tie His Tie
  • Subverted:
    Bob: Ready to go?
Alice: Just a minute, my zipper's stuck.
Bob: Come on out, I'll help you.
    Alice: No.
  • Double Subverted:
Bob: Seriously, Alice, we're going to be late. Just let me help you.
    Alice: …fine.
  • Parodied:
    • Bob spends several minutes with the various zippers, buttons, and laces on Alice's Pimped-Out Dress.
    • The scene is framed as a tender moment involving Bob helping Alice to zip a sexy new dress… only for the camera to zoom-out and reveal he was helping her zip the Goofy Suit she wears for her job at the local amusement park.
    • Bob does such a horrible job at zipping Alice’s dress that it and her underwear fall off and leave her naked in public.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Bob never zips Alice's dress.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded:
Alice: I can't reach the zipper.
Bob: I'll get it. It's like … what's that movie?
  • Invoked:
    • Bob gifts Alice a dress that he knows she will need a hand zipping up.
    • Alice is getting dressed in her room with her friend Claire, who could've zipped her just as easily. But she goes and finds Bob and asks him to do it anyway.
  • Exploited:
    • Bob plants a tracking device on Alice’s dress.
    • Bob grips Alice in a chokehold and knocks her out.
  • Defied:
    • Bob offers to zip her, and Alice awkwardly turns him down.
    • Alice ties strings to her zippers to give herself more reach.
  • Discussed:
Alice: Hey, Bob, can you help me? I can't reach the zipper.
Bob: Oh … yeah, un, sure.
  • Conversed: "Here We Go Again! He's zipping up her dress."
  • Implied:
Bob: Hey, sorry we're late—Alice needed help with her zipper.
  • Played for Laughs: Bob starts to zip Alice's dress, the music swells … and then Alice starts screaming. He accidentally caught a bit of her skin in the zipper.
  • Played for Drama: Alice is disabled and can't zip herself up. Bob zipping Alice's zipper is how he shows his love for her.
