Basic Trope: Someone insults a certain group, only for another character to remind them that they are of that group.

  • Straight: Alice casually makes a comment against werewolves, and her friend Bob reveals that he is actually a werewolf and is offended by her comment.
  • Exaggerated: Alice goes on a long-winded rant denouncing gay people, transgender people, people of color, neurodivergent people, and werewolves. Bob tells her that he belongs to all of those groups.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob isn't necessarily offended, but tells her not to say things like that in the future.
    • Alice doesn't say anything outright discriminatory, but she makes a comment comparing unpleasant people to Savage Wolves, and Bob doesn't approve.
  • Justified: Alice had no idea that Bob was a werewolf, and grew up believing that all werewolves were evil.
  • Inverted:
    • Alice praises werewolves, and Bob informs her that he is one.
    • Alice is a werewolf who is also a Boomerang Bigot, and Bob has to remind her that she's a werewolf too.
  • Subverted:
    • Bob seems like he's going to get mad, but finds the comment Actually Pretty Funny instead.
    • Bob was lying about being a werewolf.
  • Double Subverted: Other werewolves in the vicinity are offended.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Alice doesn't make discriminatory comments.
  • Enforced: To show the audience that it is possible to accidentally say offensive things.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
