Basic Trope: A character ruins the balance of the world and is promptly punished.
- Straight: Bob pushes the Statues of Power out of place and ruins the landmass he's standing on.
- Exaggerated: Bob breaks the balance so completely that the show Bob stars in gets cancelled.
- Downplayed: The balance only applies to an area spanning an entire city, but upsetting it still has consequences.
- Justified:
- Manipulating the balance of the world is a good thing because said balance was put in place by the Council of Tyranny.
- The balance itself is inadequate, so it is replaced with a better balance. This may include a Cosmic Retcon.
- Inverted:
- Bob is praised for upsetting the balance instead of being punished for it.
- Charlies is punished for trying to maintain the balance.
- Subverted: The citizens of planet Earth worry that someone might destroy it this way, but nobody tries it.
- Double Subverted: The heroes of Earth party over the prophesied ruin of the balance not coming true, only for it to happen the very next day.
- Parodied: Upsetting or restoring the balance revolving around the most trivial of issues.
