Basic Trope: Someone tries to use Two Words: Added Emphasis, but gets the number of words wrong.
- Straight: While reviewing Bores 'N Snores: The Game, Carl the Caustic Critic says "Two words: This. Game. Sucks."
- Exaggerated:
- "Two words: This game is a fucking awful piece of shit."
- Carl counts the number of words on his hand as well, but it doesn't match the number of words promised or said.
- "One word: [Carl starts a Character Filibuster]"
- Downplayed:
- "Four words: The gameplay stinks." Carl kind of pronounces "game play" as two separate words.
- "Two words: Boring and lame." We don't know if he meant "boring and lame" as a single phrase or "boring" and "lame" as two separate words.
- The phrase would have the correct word count by making a contraction, such as "Two words: It is bad."
- Justified:
- Carl is The Ditz.
- Carl was going to say "Two words: This. Sucks.", and accidentally added another word.
- Inverted:
- Subverted: "I have two words about Hornet Hole: Im-possible... garbage"
- Double Subverted: "...that sucks."
- Parodied:
- Zig Zagged: Carl says "Four words: They weren't even trying", but later uses "Four words: I wasn't ready". Both can be considered correct, but under different methods of counting.
- Averted:
- Carl gets the word count right.
- Carl doesn't attempt to use Two Words: Added Emphasis in the first place.
- Enforced:
- The director of the show wants to add some comedy involving Carl.
- Literal translation broke the word count.
- Lampshaded: "Whoops... 'Two words: This. Game. Sucks.'... did I really say that? Two words: I can't count."
- Invoked: Dana distracts Carl to make him mess up the word count.
- Defied: "Two words- no, I need more words than that."
- Discussed: "This can be summed up in twelve words... gosh, I hope I didn't miscount them. That'd be embarrassing."
- Played For Drama: Carl struggles with innumeracy.
