Trope is Hot: A translation so bad its original meaning is no-longer comprehensible.
- Straight: The line "We need some more pineapples" is mistranslated as "Pineapples require some help".
- Exaggerated:
- The line "We need some more pineapples" is mistranslated as "Can you pass me some hot poop?".
- The line "I love you Alice!" is somehow mistranslated into a detailed "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
- Downplayed: "Blind Idiot" Translation
- Justified:
- The translators obviously didn't speak said language.
- 7th generation translation of a dead-language original, there's bound to be stuff lost and/or warped along the way.
- The translation software is still in the alpha stages.
- Inverted: A horribly badly written line is somehow translated into a comprehensible sentence.
- Subverted: A sentence seems to be mistranslated, but is actually grammatically correct.
- Double Subverted: Until they try to translate the sentence into another language.
- Parodied: The line is mistranslated when translating from one form of English to another.
- Averted: No translation is done.
- Zig-Zagged: Their translation jobs can range from good, to absolutely terrible.
- Enforced: The translators did not care.
- Lampshaded: "Hopefully this is accurate!"
- Invoked: My Hovercraft Is Full of Eels
- Defied: Instead of doing it themselves, Alice and Bob hire a person who speaks fluently.
- Exploited: A translator wannabe is given a 'translator test'. He writes random Non Sequiturs all over them, and the translators immediately approves it.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: "'The Hyper cheese middling in truth'? Who the hell was hired for the translation, an undead duck?"
- Implied: We don't see the translation, but one person who speaks fluently can be seen facepalming.
- Played For Laughs: The mistranslated line ends up being quite funny.
- Played For Drama: The mistranslated line ends up being quite inappropriate for the intended audience.
- Played For Horror: The mistranslated line may unintentionally "shed new light" on a character or event and cause Fridge Horror.
