Basic Trope: Birds (and other animals that don't have teeth in real life) are depicted with teeth.
- Straight: Bob is a bird that has teeth.
- Exaggerated: All birds in the work are shown with teeth.
- Downplayed:
- Bob only has teeth when making certain facial expressions that would require them.
- The teeth are very small/hard to notice.
- Bob's beak is jagged enough to vaguely resemble teeth.
- Bob is a goose with pseudoteeth, but they’re longer than those of a real goose and look more like real teeth.
- Justified:
- Bob is a Funny Animal that evolved teeth over time.
- Bob is a specific subset of bird (or other usually toothless animal) that has/appears to have teeth, such as certain kinds of prehistoric birds.
- Bob is technically toothed as he hasn't hatched yet and thus still has his egg tooth.
- Bob is a griffin, or another Mix-and-Match Critter between a bird and an animal that actually does have teeth.
- Inverted: Bob is a kind of prehistoric bird or another animal which is supposed to have teeth, but he doesn't.
- Subverted: Bob is actually wearing dentures.
- Double Subverted: However, he somehow gains actual teeth later on.
- Parodied: There are even dentists for birds in the work.
- Zig-Zagged: Some birds have teeth, and some don't.
- Averted: The birds don't bear teeth.
- Enforced:
- It can be a way to humanize Bob a little more.
- Rule of Funny, or even Rule of Scary if played for horror.
- They don't have the budget to properly hide the actor's teeth.
- Lampshaded: "I don't think he should have those!"
- Invoked: A Mad Scientist gives birds the ability to grow teeth.
- Exploited: Bob is now able to bite someone during a battle.
- Defied: Bob goes to the dentist to get his teeth removed.
- Discussed: "But Bob! This isn't a cartoon! In the real world, birds already have beaks to chew on!"
- Conversed: "Why did they give the birds teeth? It looks kinda creepy."
- Played for Laughs: The fact that a bird has teeth is played for Willing Suspension of Disbelief.
- Played for Drama: Bob is ostracized by other birds due to being unrealistic.
- Played for Horror: A monstrous bird has large fangs.
