Basic Trope: Female characters who wear baseball caps are usually tomboys.

  • Straight: Marcy always wears a baseball cap and always hangs out with the boys.
  • Exaggerated: The reason Marcy is the only tomboy character on Troperville is because of her wearing her baseball cap backwards.
  • Downplayed: Marcy, the Tomboy with a Girly Streak, is always seen with a baseball cap even while wearing a dress.
  • Justified:
    • Marcy feels that it looks good on her.
    • Marcy wants to show support for her favorite baseball team.
    • Antiquated local "modesty" laws require all women and girls to cover their heads. Ain't No Rule that says with what.note 
  • Inverted:
    • Marcy is a Girly Girl because she wears a frilly hat.
    • Marcy is a girly girl who wears a baseball cap.
  • Gender-Inverted: Mikey wears a hat with flowers to show his femininity.
  • Subverted: Marcy always can be seen with a baseball cap on and her only friends are guys. However she is quite the girly girl.
  • Double Subverted: Except she has a tomboyish streak.
  • Parodied:
    • Marcy's baseball cap is presented as the most sacred head covering of a tomboy and whoever tries to remove it from her will incur her wrath.
    • Marcy's cap is removed. She intantly turns into a girly princess, Pimped-Out Dress and all.
    • All females can be identified as masculine based on how many baseball caps they wear. Females with a gender neutral personality wear half of a baseball cap.
