Go To

Basic Trope: One girl of a duo is a Tomboy and the other one is a Girly Girl.

  • Straight:
    • Alice wears masculine clothing and loves sports while her sister Carol wears feminine clothing and prefers sewing and music.
    • Alice is a Lady of War Action Girl who values her strength. Her sister Carol is a kind and gentle teacher who reveres her commitment.
  • Exaggerated: Alice literally has no feminine interests while Carol has zero masculine interests.
  • Downplayed: Both are pretty typical, but Carol is much more traditional than the rebellious Alice.
    • Butch Tomboy and Effeminate Tomboy: Alice is a very masculine girl, to the point of being "manly", while Carol is a fairly masculine girl, who, although more masculine than a typical woman, nonetheless still has some feminine qualities and interests.
    • Moderate Girly Girl and Proper Girly Girl: Alice is a moderate girly girl - while she wears dresses and likes cooking, she also engages in sports and non-feminine activities. Carol does not.
    • Effeminate Tomboy and Proper Girly Girl: Alice is a tomboy, but has some feminine interests, like knitting, shopping and gardening, while Carol has only feminine traits.
    • Butch Tomboy and Moderate Girly Girl: Alice is extremely manly, to the point she has only masculine interests, while Carol, although mostly girly, still has some typical masculine interests like video games and soccer.
    • Butch Tomboy Alice and Proper Girly Girl Carol are polar opposites in different ways.
    • Effeminate Tomboy Alice and Moderate Girly Girl Carol are gender-neutral in different ways.
  • Justified:
    • Alice comes from a progressive family while Carol comes from a family that values traditional roles.
    • Conversely, Alice comes from a rural family in the country, while Carol comes from a rich urban family in the city.
    • Alice comes from a tribe of manly barbarians full of hotblooded martial artists, while Carol comes from a noble family that abhors "stereotypes" and respects each other whether masculine or feminine.
    • Alice is talented at traditionally masculine activities, and this is why she engages in them. In contrast, Carol is talented at traditionally feminine activities.
  • Inverted:
    • Both of them are either exactly tomboyish or equally feminine.
    • Becky is both a tomboy and a girly girl.
  • Gender Inverted: Sensitive Guy and Manly Man
  • Subverted: The two appear to be this, but they are the complete opposite.
  • Double Subverted: ...but they were only acting like this in order to please each other's families.
  • Parodied: Alice handles conflict with punches whereas Carol handles conflict with insults.
  • Zig Zagged:
  • Averted:
  • Enforced: The writer/executive producer wanted to showcase two different types of women.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: Carol knits a sweater while Alice plays video games.
  • Played For Laughs: Carol is a ladylike fashionista but she is a Gonky Femme with very manly physical appearances while Alice is an Unkempt Beauty tomboy with soft face and runway model-like body, causing Alice to becomes an Unwillingly Girly Tomboy mannequin of Carol's clothes.
