- Bob has money riding on Al winning, well more than he'd earn if he won legitimately.

- Bob has been bribed by The Mafia, and because it's The Mafia, he would NOT dare to cross them.
- Bob, a semi-professional fighter, has been hired to give the Make-A-Wish hoax set up for Al some legitimacy.
- Inverted: Bob is a Jobber who decides to try and win legitimately.
- Subverted:
- Bob is seen before the fight discussing his plans to throw the match. However, during the round he's supposed to be "knocked out", he changes his mind and gets up, deciding to fight for real.
- Bob and Al are actors, there is no real fight and 'victory' would win him nothing other than being replaced by someone who can stick to the script.
- Double Subverted:
- However, in the next round, he changes his mind again and takes a dive.
- Bob's character was scripted to throw the fight.
- Parodied:
- Bob is a man-mountain made of pure, solid muscle. Despite this, when the scrawny milquetoast Al slaps him, he acts as though he's been fatally injured.
- The instant Bob enters the ring, and the bell is dinged, Bob immediately collapses onto the floor in such a ridiculously blatant way of broadcasting to the world that he's been bribed to take a dive, yet nobody bats an eye at this.
- Zig-Zagged: Bob is constantly going back and forth on whether to take a dive.
- Averted: No match-throwing is even suggested and the two men have a good, clean fight.
- Enforced: It's the only way that Al can win that doesn't break the audience's Willing Suspension of Disbelief given how Bob has been presented in previous episodes.
- Lampshaded: "Bob down after that shot...didn't really seem like it'd take him down!"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Al's rival suggests he fight Bob, which will harm Al's reputation as a legitimate fighter.
- Defied: Bob starkly refuses to throw the match when the possibility is brought up.

- Deconstructed: Both men's careers are damaged by the fight having been thrown: Bob gets a reputation as a slimeball, and Al's reputation falls under question as people start to claim he only fights guys who will willingly take a dive.
- Reconstructed: Bob and Al have a rematch where they fight honorably, go the distance, and Al comes out the victor. This proves that Bob can fight with some honor and that yes, Al really would knock him out.
