Basic Trope: A team of superheroes.
- Straight: Whenever Paradigm City is threatened, Captain Resolute, Darklighter, Lady Willpower, Miracle Dude, and Hardluck immediately spring into action as The Fifth Element.
- Exaggerated: The Fifth Element is associated with pretty much every other superhero on the planet through the International Society of Superheroes.
- Downplayed: The five major heroes of Paradigm City are unaligned, but reluctantly on rare occasions team up to solve major crises.
- Justified: Fighting the forces of evil can become too big a job for one person to tackle alone, especially when fighting international crime syndicates and evil gods from outer space.
- Inverted: The Fifth Element falls apart due to infighting, mistrust between its members, and a nasty dispute over merchandising rights.
- A few of the shrewder villains, led by Dr. Imperius, form a nasty counterpart to The Fifth Element: The Compendium of Evil.
- Subverted: Despite several opportunities, the impetus to create a team of superheroes simply isn't present in any of the potential members due to a lack of trust about sharing their real names and personalities with strangers.
- Parodied: Workshopped names for The Fifth Element include "The Five Amigos" and "The Pentagonal Pals".
- Zig Zagged: One- or two-man team-ups are common, but thanks to a divide between those involved in street-level and more challenging crime, there isn't much overlap between high- and low-powered heroes, until a big enough threat manages to affect every hero at once.
- Averted: No team ups between superheroes have occured... yet.
- Enforced: In a bid to more tightly control superhuman activities, the federal government steps in to place heroes in "compliance groups" under strict supervision.
- Lampshaded: "A team? You mean like some kind of league for justice or avenging guys?"
- Invoked: As civilians, the members of The Fifth Element are close relatives.
- Defied: All team-ups between Paradigm City heroes are strictly one-off events; for a number of reasons, they're much more competent (and happier) working solo than as a team.
- Exploited: With so many powerful gadgets and weapons, trophies, and personal datafiles agglomerated at Fifth Base, every villain in the world knows precisely where to go to score the best swag.
- Discussed: After surviving their first harrowing battle as a team, the heroes involved privately debate making their team ups an "official thing".
- Conversed: The villains are less than thrilled at having to fight more than one hero at once now, especially since they only attack one at a time.
- Implied: Despite all claims to the contrary, the heroes of Paradigm City make it unofficially known to their enemies that they're in league with each other.
- Deconstructed: Super teams are more of a necessity than a novelty; heroes band together not only to better protect and serve, but for protection against violent and cunning villains and a deeply cynical and mistrustful public.
- The creation of superhero teams invite larger and more destructive challenges to wreak havoc on the planet.
- Reconstructed: Apart from mutual protection, The Fifth Element works as a support group for superheroes, including running an outreach program for young and at-risk superhumans with dangerous powers.
