Basic Trope: The Goomba always insists on picking a fight with the One-Man Army Player Character.

  • Straight: The Trope-Xs still attack The Hero even after he has gained a few levels.
  • Exaggerated: Even after The Hero has gotten the Infinity +1 Sword, gotten to the max level, and defeated the Final Boss, the Trope-X's still attack him.
  • Downplayed: When you're later into the game, the Trope-Xs still retaliate when you hit them, but won't attack you of their own accord.
  • Justified:
    • The Trope-Xs are Too Dumb to Live.
    • The enemies are zombies who are incapable of having a self-preservation instinct due to rotten brains.
    • The Trope-Xs are Proud Warrior Race Guys who would prefer a death in battle to running like a coward.
    • They're part of a Martyrdom Culture where they're all okay with throwing themselves into the meatgrinder for their leaders. If they can potentially injure the hero in the process, awesome! If not, no big deal, they still died for what they believed in.
    • They didn't hear that The Hero has gone through some serious Training from Hell and subsequent Character Development.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: When you're Level 1-20, the Trope-Xs attack you. However, the second you reach Level 21 they run away from you.
  • Double Subverted: And then when you're level 50 they'll attack you again.
  • Parodied: The Hero has become a Physical God, with the most powerful and feared beings on the planet fearing him... And then a basic Mook from when his journey started tries to attack him.
  • Zig Zagged: Depending on the type of enemy, they might run away or they might not.
  • Averted:
    • Trope-Xs only attack you when they have a chance of winning.
    • There are no enemies basic enough to serve the role of The Goomba.
  • Enforced: Feedback from the alpha indicates that the Hero does not seem to noticeably increase in power as a result of travelling to different areas and encountering different enemies whose power cannot easily be compared, so a constant enemy is added.
  • Lampshaded: Upon defeating a weaker enemy, a high-level hero will state "You're really dumb enough to still attack me?".
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Stand in a crowded area, wait for weak enemies to come to you, then kill them. Easy levels to as high as you want.
  • Defied: The Big Bad reprograms his robots to make them run away from powerful enemies because he's tired of wasting money.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
