Basic Trope: Two characters (normally of the opposite gender) bump into one another and one ends up on top of another, which causes a third party to think they're having sex.
- Straight: Alice and Bob crash into each other, which leads to Alice sprawled on the floor and Bob leaning over her. When Carol walks by, she thinks they're getting ready to have sex and calls them perverts.
- Exaggerated: They were also naked, leading Carol to think they must be having sex.
- Downplayed:
- Bob falls onto Alice's face, which makes Carol think they're kissing.
- Carol thinks that Alice and Bob are hugging, but not necessarily in a sexual way.
- Carol wonders "Are they having sex?" but doesn't think that they definitely are.
- Justified: Alice and Bob are lovers, so it's not out of character that they'd be having sex, they were just unfortunate enough that they fell into a position that reminded Carol of sex in public when that's not what they were doing.
- Inverted: Carol accidentally walks in on Alice and Bob having sex and thinks they had a fall.
- Subverted: Carol shouts, "Perverts!" but it turns out she was talking about a shop that sold adult entertainment.
- Double Subverted: Then, she turns around and sees Alice and Bob still in their fallen position and says, "Are we living in a perverted town now?".
- Parodied: Alice and Bob bump into each other, have sex on the spot and pretend not to be when Carol sees them then resume when she leaves.
- Zigzagged: Carol says "You two are perverts...unless you just fell on top of each other...are you getting ready to have sex?...I know you two are dating...but it's in public, you wouldn't do the nasty in public, would you?..."
- Averted:
- Alice and Bob do not bump into each other.
- Alice and Bob bump into each other, but not in a way that could be seen as sexual.
- Carol doesn't think that the two are having sex.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: "We'd better get up or it'll look like we're doing it!"
- Invoked:
- Bob deliberately falls on top of Alice to prank Carol.
- Dave puts a Banana Peel on the floor to trip up Alice and/or Bob in hopes they'd end up falling like that.
- Exploited: Dave, wanting to have sex with Eve, places a Banana Peel to trick Carol into telling Eve Bob cheated on her.
- Defied: Alice and Bob both look where they are going so they don't collide.
- Discussed: "Are those two people doing it or did one just fall onto the other?"
- Conversed: "Those two characters better get up or someone might think they're having sex!"
- Implied: Carol is seen looking shocked when she sees them in their fallen position but it is never revealed why.
- Deconstructed: Carol ends up calling the police on them.
- Reconstructed: They manage to explain before she calls the police.
