Basic Trope: An often low-quality restaurant based on Chuck E. Cheese, which has costumed mascots/animatronics, pizza, and arcade games.

  • Straight: The restaurant Petey's Pizza features various animatronic mascots (including Petey the Peacock himself), various arcade games, and pizza. All of which are of questionable quality.
  • Exaggerated: Petey's Pizza essentially has Captain Ersatz versions of the mascots of Chuck E. Cheese (which are straight up hostile), the arcade games are buggy, incoherent messes, and the pizza is literally recycled, with some slices from as many as 30 years ago.
  • Downplayed: The main attraction of Petey's Pizza is its pizza, but to appeal to children, it has one or two outdated arcade cabinets. Compared to others, the restaurant is only mediocre at best.
  • Justified:
    • The characters in the work are children, and this is a Birthday Episode.
    • The restaurant has incompetent owners/employees.
    • The restaurant is standing on its last legs and hasn't afforded repairs to "Staring" Petey, "Gaping Jaw" George and "Sir Twitch-a-Lot" Martin in favor of keeping the food safe for consumption and the building safe for entry.
  • Inverted: Petey's Pizza is very successful, and lots of fun even to adults that go there. It's even praised for having some of the best pizza known to man!
  • Subverted: Alice and Bob's parents, Charles and Diane, dread taking their children to Petey's Pizza out of fear that it will essentially be a Fate Worse than Death. They later go inside to find that it's actually pretty fun.
  • Double Subverted: ...And then something goes wrong.
  • Parodied:
    • Charles and Diane are trapped at Petey's Pizza while their kids play, and end up getting so frustrated/bored that they both scream an Atomic F-Bomb.
    • The restaurant's name is even something along the lines of "Crappy Children's Pizzeria".
    • The pizza served is literally using cardboard as dough, the cheese is instead glue, the pepperoni slices are actually extremely thinly cut hotdog sausages, and overall it's even amazing how the health inspectors haven't shut the place down with such shoddy food.
  • Zig-Zagged: There are multiple episodes that involve Petey's Pizza, and the quality of the restaurant changes each time.
  • Averted:
    • There are no "Chuck E. Cheese" styled restaurants in the work.
    • "Petey's Pizza" is much more similar to restaurants such as Dave and Buster's.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Crappy pizza, arcade games and creepy animatronics. Yep, that's Petey's Pizza all right."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited:
    • The owners of Petey's Pizza actually turn out to be criminals who use the restaurant as a front for money laundering.
  • Defied: The owners of Petey's Pizza actively change the restaurant for the better.
  • Discussed: "Remember Petey's Pizza? It was my favorite restaurant as a kid. Honestly, I don't know how I didn't notice the cheap pizza or the rusty animatronics."
  • Conversed: "Chuck E. Cheese parodies are always way shittier than the real thing. Do all TV writers have a vendetta against that mouse?"
  • Implied: Evan mentions a "shitty birthday party he had at a kids' restaurant" once, but doesn't go into detail.
  • Played for Horror:
