- Alice commits suicide to join the rest of the victims in death.

- Being the only living person leaves Alice with tremendous psychological trauma that results in her becoming institutionalized because of the insanity from witnessing so much violence and death around her.
- The police immediately suspect Alice of being a participant because she's the only one still alive. On top of the trauma of surviving the ordeal, she now has to deal with asshole officers and investigators who browbeat her for information she doesn't have, and also with the media who demonize her.
- Reconstructed:
- She gets psychological treatment and therapy which helps her to move past her trauma. But she tattoos herself with the names of those who died as a memorial to them.
- A good investigator realizes that Alice is completely innocent. He viciously fights to vindicate Alice to the public and succeeds, and she's subsequently treated as a complete victim of everyone around her and the public helps her to put her life back together.
