Basic Trope: A character flirts or reveals part of their body in a seductive way, to distract someone.

  • Straight: To distract some guards so Bob can get past them, Alice flashes her breasts, accompanied by a provocative comment inviting the guards to look.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice strips entirely nude to distract the guards.
    • Alice, Claire, Maria, Ashley, and Gloria all flash their breasts at the guards at once, to keep the guards distracted for as long as possible.
    • Alice flashes an ongoing staff meeting of all of the guards in the complex at once.
    • Alice lets the guards grope her, enjoy her body, or have sex with her, merely to keep them distracted.
  • Downplayed: Alice emerges from her hiding place and rolls up her sleeves, and somehow this is enough to distract the guards.
  • Justified:
    • The team really needs a distraction, but they're out of ammo and have no other options.
    • It was brought up by pre-mission intel that all of the guards have been deprived of any female attention and internet access for weeks on end, so they'll be especially vulnerable.
    • Alice is a Shameless Fanservice Girl or Innocent Fanservice Girl, and it's been previously established that she needs no excuse to show off her body. The fact that it has a tactical use in this situation is just an added bonus.
  • Inverted: The guards are so attractive that they unintentionally distract Alice from carrying out the plan.
  • Gender-Inverted: The guards are heterosexual women, so it's up to Bob to distract them by removing his shirt and revealing his chiseled pecs and six-pack abs.
  • Subverted:
    • The guards turn out to be women.
    • The guards turn out to be gay men.
    • The guards turn out to be robots, with no sense of sexual attraction.
  • Double Subverted:
  • Parodied: The scene takes place in a museum, and Alice grabs a pair of Greek urns from a display, then calls out to the guards to "check out these jugs." Despite the oddity of the situation, the guards are budding archaeologists, and thus subsequently distracted.
  • Zig-Zagged: Following the initial distraction, the guards detect some motion as Bob moves, so Alice steps up her efforts by jumping up and down with another provocative comment. The guards are distracted momentarily, but then Bob stumbles and makes a noise, so Alice removes her bottoms with another provocative comment to distract the guards yet again. Bob sneezes, and the guards are about to spot him when Alice pulls the fire alarm, prompting the sprinklers to turn on, and subsequently takes an impromptu shower, ensuring the guards are distracted for good.
  • Averted: Just as Alice prepares to lift her top, an alarm sounds and the guards are summoned elsewhere.
  • Enforced: "We need Fanservice, but don't want to make Alice look like a slut. Hey, I know! Let's put her in a situation where exposing herself is the optimal plan!"
  • Lampshaded: "I should really consider carrying smoke bombs for situations like this. Oh well, I'll bring some next time. Hey guards, get a load of—"
  • Invoked: Alice overhears the guards talking about how all they do is work, so they never have the chance to meet any women, which inspires Alice's plan.
  • Exploited: Alice had her top destroyed earlier by enemy attacks, and has since been running around with nothing but her hands to cover her chest anyway. When they encounter the guards, she decides to make the best of the opportunity.
  • Defied: Bob suggests flashing the guards to distract them, and Alice refuses.
  • Discussed: "Wow, look at those! I'm definitely not paying attention to anything else."
  • Conversed: "You'd think the guards would assume something must be happening elsewhere, if a woman jumps out and flashes them." "Yeah, this is why they're low-paid."
  • Implied:
    • Alice tells Bob to move on her command and he does so, missing Alice's distraction. After he knocks out the guards, he turns back to see Alice readjusting her top, and she makes a wry comment how all men are the same.
    • Alice tells Bob to move on her command and he does so, missing Alice's distraction. When the mission is over, Bob asks Alice how she managed to distract the guards, and she says she only had to use her "feminine charms," as she pats her chest.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Since the appearance of a topless woman is extremely incongruous with the base, the guards immediately assume this is an attempt at distraction.
    • Security cameras are pointed at every checkpoint, which would spot Bob regardless.
  • Reconstructed:
    • ...but then Alice pulls down her bottoms, and the guards are distracted despite their skepticism.
    • ...but Alice strategically places herself in view of the security cameras, causing her breasts to appear on the surveillance monitors and keeping everyone distracted at once.
  • Played for Laughs:
    • The guards notice Bob, but decide to let him pass anyway with a thumbs-up, as a sign of gratitude to Alice for the show.
    • When Bob rejoins with Alice later, she is now garbed in numerous Mardi Gras beads, and gold medals that say "#1" and "Best in Show."
    • Due to the shifting nature of their plan, Alice and Bob have to pass the guards' checkpoint multiple times, and Alice flashes her breasts to distract them each time with gradually flagging enthusiasm. On the last iteration, Alice lifts her shirt for the guards with a businesslike dryness, and the guards stare, nod, and then wave her and Bob through.
    • Alice's role on the team is specifically to flash her breasts at enemies, so that other teammates can take advantage of the distraction. She has specialized training on how to maximize the intensity and duration of her flashes, takes lighting and wind direction into account before flashing, and has a Ph D in flashology from a prestigious university.
    • The guards photograph Alice's flash with their phones, which leads Bob to ask Alice if she's worried about this coming back later. Alice scoffs that there's no outside internet in the base, so what's the worst that could happen. Later, we see a pair of guards both reading the latest issue of "Attempts At Distraction Monthly," with the photo of Alice flashing on the cover, her bare breasts obscured by the magazine title.
  • Played for Drama:
    • Alice isn't terribly excited about the idea, and being put in a situation where she has to expose herself to strangers gives her some lingering trauma afterwards.
    • Back at base, Alice gains a reputation for disrobing to distract enemies, making her the subject of ridicule and harassment, and leading her to wonder if it was worth it.
    • When Alice encounters more guards later, they make lewd comments inviting her to flash them again, and Alice is troubled by their perception of her as promiscuous.
  • Played for Horror:
    • Alice's breasts shatter the minds of whoever looks upon them, with nightmarish hallucinations.
