Basic Trope: A character mentions viewing something (especially a movie) a large number of times to demonstrate how much they like it.

  • Straight: Bob mentions watching his favorite movie 27 times.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Somehow, Bob has watched his favorite movie over a million times.
    • Bob has viewed all his favorite movie a very large amount of times.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob has watched his favorite movie a handful of times.
    • Bob doesn't know the exact number of times he's seen his favorite film, but he has seen it more than once.
    • Bob watched his favourite movie twice or thrice.
  • Justified:
    • Bob simply really likes the movie.
    • The movie reminds Bob of a good time in his life. For instance, he and his family would always watch it together.
    • It was the only movie Bob was able to watch while imprisoned.
    • Bob was the movie's film editor.
    • Bob was the projectionist for the local cinema when the movie premiered.
    • Bob is directing a remake of the movie and is determined to analyse it.
    • Bob is writing an essay of the movie with a very long word count.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob has only seen the movie once, yet he considers it his favorite.
    • Bob brags about how little time he's wasted watching the movie because he hates it.
  • Subverted: When Bob said he watched the movie that many times, he was lying.
  • Double Subverted: He was actually understating how many times he has watched it.
  • Parodied: The only thing Bob ever does is watch his favorite movie on repeat.
  • Zig-Zagged: Bob is a fan of various things, and how many times he has seen them depends.
  • Averted: Bob doesn't mention watching his favorite movie multiple times.
  • Enforced: "We need to show how obsessed with his favorite movie Bob really is!"
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Alice encourages Bob to watch a movie multiple times.
  • Exploited:
    • Bob sets a world record for the highest number of times anyone has seen a specific movie.
    • Bob's repeated viewings of a movie gives him the inspiration for defeating the Big Bad.
  • Defied: Bob decides not to watch his favorite movies very often, or doesn't mention how many times he's seen his favorite movies.
  • Discussed: "Is watching that movie the only thing you do?"
  • Conversed: "I wonder why some characters feel the need to point out that they've seen a certain movie so many times."
  • Deconstructed: Bob gets tired of watching a movie due to how many times he's seen it.
  • Reconstructed: Bob rewatches the movie years later and rediscovers how he enjoyed it a lot.
  • Implied: Bob suggests something to watch on movie night, and Alice groans in frustration, implying that it's not the first time they have seen it.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice brings up how many times Bob has watched his favorite movie to embarrass him in front of his crush, Carol.
  • Played for Drama:
    • Bob's family is poor, and he doesn't have much choice for entertainment. He spends most of his time just watching his favorite movie over and over again.
    • Bob becomes overly invested in the movie as a form of escapism, to the point that he Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality.
  • Played for Horror: Bob watches a violent movie on so many occasions that it warps his conscience and affects his behavior.
