Basic Trope: A character betrays someone and feels bad about their treachery.
- Straight: Bob feels bad about betraying his best friend Alice for Dr. Evulz.
- Exaggerated: Bob regrets his treachery so much, he's Driven to Suicide.
- Downplayed: Bob feels a little sorry about betraying Alice, but he can work through it just fine.
- Justified:
- Bob didn't want to betray Alice, but it was the only to protect his home town.
- Bob and Alice were best friends, so of course he would feel bad about betraying her.
- Bob betrayed Alice against his will.
- Inverted: Bob is very happy about his betrayal of Alice.
- Subverted: Bob doesn't seem to have any regrets about betraying Alice...
- Double Subverted: ...But it's later shown to be eating away at him on the inside.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: Bob feels bad about betraying Alice, but he doesn't seem to have any regrets about betraying Charlie.
- Averted: Bob does not betray Alice at all.
- Enforced: The director needs Bob to betray Alice for the upcoming arc, but at the same time needs Bob to remain a sympathetic character.
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: Dr. Evulz threatens to kill Alice unless Bob betrays her.
- Exploited: Alice uses Bob's remorse as a way to get him to make a Heel–Face Turn.
- Defied: Knowing that he'd only feel terrible about it later, Bob refuses to betray Alice.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Implied: While Bob is never seen showing remorse, he doesn't seem to be too happy about being a traitor, either.
- Deconstructed: Fearing that Bob will go back to Alice's side, Dr. Evulz kills him as soon as he doesn't need him anymore.
- Played for Laughs: Bob's "treachery" was over something ridiculously trivial, so his angst is completely over-the-top.
