Basic Trope: A location that exposes and attacks a character's fears and weaknesses.
- Straight: The Mood Singularity amplifies the negative emotions and traumatic memories of anyone who comes near it.
- Exaggerated: Prolonged exposure to the Singularity results in lasting side-effects such as insomnia, anxiety, depression, and in extreme cases, permanent psychosis.
- Downplayed: While mildly unsettling, The Singularity is otherwise benevolent, serving as a really abstract litmus test for those with mental issues.
- Justified: The Singularity is a weird place where emotional energy replaces the laws of physics.
- Inverted: The Garden of Good Feelings gives everyone who enters it an overwhelming sense of peace and wholeness.
- Subverted: The Singularity only tries to help, and once those within it accept their shortcomings, its gives way and lets them leave.
- Parodied: Sounds coming from within the Singularity include demonic whispers, rattling chains and deep-throated screaming.
- Zig Zagged: The Singularity's actions are based on the mental state of those who enter it. If the subject is well-adjusted and content, it is beneficial. If the subject is unstable...
- Averted: No one is exposed to any "bad vibes".
- Enforced: Exploring the mind often means learning things about ourselves that we wouldn't like to know.
- Lampshaded: No one likes going near the Singularity.
- Invoked: The Singularity is used by many in an attempt to face up to various fears and inadequacies.
- Exploited: The Nightmare Syndicate uses the Singularity to break their enemies.
- Defied: There is no Singularity. There is, however, a therapist's office on the corner.
- Discussed: The effects of the Singularity are noted as they happen by the participants.
- Conversed: People inside the Singularity act out their hallucinations, many of which involve screaming.
- Implied: People who come out of the Singularity are changed, for better or for worse.
- Deconstructed: The Singularity is so powerful no one can go near it without being affected, making studying its effects a dicey proposition at best. A dangerous and unknowable area is a bad combination for people with undisclosed mental health issues.
- Reconstructed: Some people are more stable than others, and their guiding light helps the rest get out of the Singularity's grip.
