Basic Trope: A nosebleed is used to indicate a character being aroused.

  • Straight: Bob sees Alice in her underwear and blood starts gushing from his nose.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed: Bob sees Alice in her underwear and a little trickle of blood flows down from his nose. He quickly wipes it away.
  • Justified: Bob has a medical condition.
  • Inverted: Bob's nosebleed stops when he sees Alice in her underwear.
  • Subverted: Bob sees Alice in her underwear and takes out a tissue to wipe his nose. He was actually wiping snot since he has a cold...
  • Double Subverted: ...except Bob actually hadn't registered that Alice was in her underwear yet. Once he does his nose starts bleeding.
  • Parodied: Bob gets high-pressure nosebleeds whenever he sees a girl in any situation. Nobody ever remarks on it.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob gets nosebleeds around some of the girls he's attracted to, but not all of them.
  • Averted:
    • Aroused characters do not have nosebleeds.
    • The characters aren't shown being aroused at all.
  • Enforced: "We need a humorous, but non crude way to indicate that Bob finds Alice sexy."
  • Lampshaded: "Jeez, why does Bob always get nosebleeds when I'm around?"
  • Invoked: Charlie wants to ridicule Bob, so he sets up a situation in which Bob walks in on an undressing Alice, causing him to pass out from the blood loss.
  • Exploited: Charlie needs a sample of Bob's blood, and takes advantage of him seeing Alice in her underwear to collect it.
  • Defied: Bob sees Alice in her underwear. He immediately pinches his nose and rushes to the bathroom.
  • Discussed: "You're going on a date with Alice? Try not to bleed all over her dress..."
  • Conversed: "I'm so glad that my nose doesn't bleed whenever I see Alice. How can those anime characters live with this?"
  • Implied: Bob is often seen wiping his nose when around attractive girls.
  • Deconstructed: Bob's frequent nosebleeds have caused trouble, both for his personal life and his health.
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played For Laughs:
    • Bob gets nosebleeds when in the presence of half-naked girls... and large amounts of food.
    • The nosebleeds actually leave Bob's clothes bloodstained. The more they happen, the more drenched he looks.
    • Bob gets nosebleeds whenever he's aroused, even if it's just "morning wood" or similar.
  • Played For Drama:
    • Bob's constant nosebleeds whenever Alice does anything slightly suggestive have strained the relationship between the two.
    • The nosebleeds actually leave Bob's clothes bloodstained. He's later falsely accused of murder after finding a dead body and neglecting to change clothes.
