Basic Trope: The villain, after seizing power, publicly outlines their vision for the future before an audience of thousands.
- Straight: It's all coming together for Evil Chancellor Evulz. The leaders of the Resistance are all on death row, as was The Good King and his consort who had their heads cleanly removed, and the exiled government of the state of the past are slowly but surely being erased from history. And as he steps onto that podium, proudly declaiming to the Black Shirts empty, meaningless platitudes, many of which are lies that perhaps he himself has become enamored with, the citizens of the now dying state eagerly await, knowingly or not, the permanent annihilation of democracy and any hope for sanity.
- Exaggerated: Of course, Evulz would never forget the SS uniforms, the hakenkreuzs and red and white and black banners everywhere. "The tyranny of the old system shall fail us for no longer!! The enthrallment of the mind to this historic moment cannot be put into words! The tides of change will be set into motion!" this prelude goes on for twenty more minutes "During my brief incumbency, nothing shall remain stagnant, nothing shall stay the same ever again!! The parliament and senate will be abolished and their powers will be consolidated and concentrated in the hands of the king! The roving street criminals, the arsonists, the murderers, the jaywalkers shall be expunged from our system until their psychological rehabilitation in our mental hospitals is complete! All subversive texts, and thoughts in opposition to the state shall be purged! All threats to this New Era shall be destroyed!" (thunderous applause)
- Downplayed: Evulz is not into motive rants and explaining himself, and is actually quite stage shy, but he does so anyways because he is expected to, however brief.
- Justified: It's hard to get people to work with you when they don't even know what you goals are, and Evulz understands this.
- Inverted:
- Dawn of an Era
- Instead, one of his advisors outlines the plans of the Government Conspiracy in private. Evulz is just a Puppet King and a scapegoat.
- Subverted: Not only is Evulz a Well-Intentioned Extremist, but he was actually right. Denying people their personal freedoms or even outright doing away with The Evils of Free Will actually did contribute to the health of society, in a way that the old kingdom could not, because it's population was just that unruly.
- Double Subverted:
- Of course, this stability was merely a symptom of pragmatism, and not everyone benefitted equally from it.
- But this time of prosperity was short lived; no matter how well-intentioned Evulz was, and notwithstanding his short-term success, his state was Fascist, but Inefficient. Shortly thereafter, the nation collapses into perpetual anarchy, from which civilization may never recover.
- Parodied: After seizing supreme power, Evulz proudly proclaims that change is inevitable. After seizing supreme power over an organization that he created when he was five on a school playground, that is.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted:
- Evulz is an Omnicidal Maniac that wants to Kill All Humans, and, as such, cares not for this thing you puny mortals call 'vision'.
- Evulz is quickly dispatched of before he could ever become a threat, let alone overthrow the existing government.
- Enforced: Evulz's speech is supposed to underscore the threat he and his followers pose to the people of the fallen kingdom.
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Evulz has to occupy a highly-visible public position to be seen by thousands of people, making him highly vulnerable to assassination.
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Implied: As a part of her studies, Alice is reading a biography on Evulz, which apparently includes many of his most famous quotes from the day of his inauguration.
- Deconstructed: Apparently, Evulz doesn't understand the concept of selective omission; now that all of his plans are in the public for all to witness, all but the most loyal black shirts are beginning to second-guess the sanity of Evulz's plan, and all of his enemies now know the extent of his vision, and can react accordingly.
- Reconstructed: Feigning stupidity and/or self-destructive arrogance was the point; not only would his enemies underestimate his ability ''and'' buy into his lies, but 'non-believers' would inadvertently rat themselves out, streamlining execution of The Purge and avoiding accidental annihilation of true-believers.
- Played For Laughs: Evulz emotionally shouts, while milking giant bovines, about the nature of his outlawing of pineapple-studded pizzas.
Back to my New Era Speech; I have many plans in store for you.
