Basic Trope: A crossover featuring characters from three or more works of fiction.

  • Straight: In a special one-shot comic, Alice from the Vampire Hunter Alice series, Bob from the Super Bob series, and Carol from the Detective Carol's Mysteries series all are drawn into interdimensional portals and end up facing a villain together.
  • Exaggerated: The one-shot comic pulls in characters from 100+ different series, as primary characters, secondary characters, or just cameos.
  • Downplayed: Crossover
  • Justified: The work retroactively retcons Alice, Bob, and Carol's stories as being part of the same universe, it's just that they'd never crossed each other's paths before.
  • Inverted: The misadventures of Alice, Bob, and Carol feature all three, but there are multiple comics and fanfiction that explore the "What if they were all different universes?" idea.
  • Subverted: Alice wakes up in a new world and sees two silhouettes that, at first, seem to be Bob and Carol from two other popular series, but then (just as the reader gets excited) it turns out they're just Alice's friends wearing cosplay.
  • Double Subverted: Alice wakes up in a new world, sees her friends wearing cosplay of Bob and Carol... then the real Bob and Carol show up anyway.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged:
  • Averted: The comic doesn't have any crossovers.
  • Enforced: The work is an online roleplay where each character must have a set of visual novel-style sprites, so it's easiest for the players to take character sprites from existing video games. As a result, the roleplay ends up featuring characters from many different franchises.
  • Lampshaded: "There are so many of us here, yet no two people come from the same world. What are the odds, hm?"
