Go To

Basic Trope: Someone can easily be revived by getting electricity to their chest.

  • Straight: Charlie starts having a medical emergency and needs to be revived. His companions Alice and Bob give him some electric shocks to the chest, and his heart starts working again quickly.
  • Exaggerated: Charlie died from getting stabbed in the heart, and all Alice and Bob have are basic electric currents. They hold the electric currents to his chest to revive him... and with a Gasp of Life, Charlie is somehow back within seconds!
  • Downplayed: Charlie starts going into cardiac arrest, and Alice and Bob do have a legitimate defibrillator on hand to revive him with, though it does take significantly less time/effort than it actually would if this happened in real life.
  • Justified:
    • Charlie has a higher healing factor.
    • Alice and Bob are actually trained with using defibrillators, so they understand how to use them.
    • The defibrillator really is magical.
    • CH4R71E the robot just needed a recharge.
  • Inverted:
    • A defibrillator is used to easily kill or incapacitate someone.
    • Defibrillators don't even work at all.
  • Subverted: Alice and Bob try to use a defibrillator on Charlie, but it doesn't work.
  • Double Subverted: They try more than once, and it eventually works.
  • Parodied: Alice and Bob try to use a defibrillator on Charlie... because he hit his knee on the edge of a table.
  • Zig-Zagged: The defibrillator is used on multiple characters - it ends up working on some, but not others.
  • Averted:
    • Nobody is revived with a defibrillator in the first place.
    • Defibrillators are portrayed accurately.
  • Enforced:
    • A scene where a defibrillator actually works like it does in real life would take up too much time, and isn't necessary to the plot, so there isn't really a need to include it.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Charlie starts going into cardiac arrest, and Alice and Bob take him to a hospital to let a trained professional resuscitate him instead.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Most of the time when they use a defibrillator in movies, they don't get a lot of the details right."
