Basic Trope: In a video which employs Level Scaling, remaining at a low level gives you an advantage that is lost at higher levels.
- Straight: In Tales of Troperia XIV, the Disc-One Final Boss is notoriously difficult. If faced with an average party level below 10, he won't use his most powerful abilities, making him much easier to defeat.
- Exaggerated:
- The average party level has to be below 3 for him not to use those abilities.
- Without those abilities, he is so easy to beat that it's almost impossible to lose.
- Keeping your party level below 10 results in the Disc-One Final Boss just letting you go through instead of blocking your path.
- Downplayed: He's still a difficult fight, but it is easier.
- Justified:
- The boss is metaphysically linked to the party. Once they get strong enough, he gains access to his devastating abilities.
- The boss believes that anyone less than level 10 is a non-combatant and thus Beneath Notice.
- The boss sees anyone below level 10 and decides that Just Toying with Them is a good tactic and is genuinely surprised if you beat him.
- Inverted: Early Game Hell
- Subverted: The boss is easier to beat, but he does not drop his best loot, a one-of-a-kind weapon that makes the rest of the game much easier.
- Double Subverted: ...but the weapon can be stolen from him during the battle instead.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: The boss is easier at a lower level, but causes a later rematch with him to be significantly harder.
- Averted: There is no advantage to being at a lower level at any point in the game.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: "Good thing this boss goes easy on low-level characters!"
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: The boss explicitly states that he won’t hold back just because the player is low level.
