Basic Trope: Saying a food tastes like something disgusting that you shouldn't know what it tastes like.

  • Straight: Alice bites into a sandwich, spits it out, and shouts, "Yuck! This tastes like feet!"
  • Exaggerated: Alice names every disgusting non-food item in the world and says the sandwich tastes like all of them.
  • Downplayed:
    • "It tastes like an orange with vinegar on it!"
    • Alice smells the sandwich without taking a bite and comments, "Ugh, this smells like feet."
  • Justified:
    • Alice accidentally tasted a foot one time.
    • When pressed about it, Alice explains that the sandwich is soggy and salty, which reminds her of sweat, and the toughness of the condiments brings callouses to mind.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted:
    • After saying the eponymous phrase, Alice says, "Just kidding".
    • Alice says the sandwich tastes like feet... The thing is, she is a foot-fetishist. Ergo, she uttered the phrase as a genuine, if unorthodox, compliment about the sandwich's excellent flavor.
  • Double Subverted:
    • "It tastes like mud!"
    • But then she says: "...The potato salad, on the other hand, tastes like ass! And since I'm NOT into anilingus, that's just plain gross!"
  • Parodied: "The soup tastes like Satan's feet." Cue the scene cutting to the kitchen, which shows Satan himself using the soup's pot as an impromptu foot bath.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice is trying to identify the taste of something and mentions feet, worms, and mud, at several points.
  • Averted: Nobody says that a food tastes like something unless they know what it tastes like.
  • Enforced: The creators wanted an easy way to communicate that Alice is disgusted, but didn't know much about preparing the food. So they just had her compare it to something disgusting instead, rather than being specific.
  • Lampshaded: "How does Alice know what feet taste like? Does she... Argh! I don't even wanna know."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Alice refuses to say anything that doesn't make sense.
  • Discussed: Bob is at the scene, and says, "Alice, how would you know what feet taste like?"
  • Conversed: ???
  • Played For Laughs: "Ugh! This tastes like the average KFC!"
  • Played For Horror: The food turns out to be made out of actual feet.
