Basic Trope: A character's immunity to something eventually fails due to repeated exposure.
- Straight: Bob has a super-strong armoured body that lets him mostly ignore Alice's Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs. However, after she punches him enough, he starts to be hurt by them, until he finally collapses.
- Exaggerated: Bob is completely immune to Alice's punches at first, but explodes into Ludicrous Gibs when she breaks through his defence.
- Downplayed: Bob starts wincing in pain a bit after Alice has punched him for a long time, but she still remains unable to do any actual damage.
- Justified:
- Bob's armoured body isn't indestructible. Alice's punches can leave microscopic fractures and dents in it, which eventually add up and let her start doing real damage.
- Bob's armored body just dulls pain a lot, does not gets rid of it. Hit him enough times in the nose and he eventually will feel it.
- Inverted: Acquired Poison Immunity — taking a powerful attack until you eventually become immune to it.
- Subverted: Bob starts acting like Alice's punches are finally getting to him... only to reveal that he feels fine, and was just playing around with Alice before defeating her.
- Double Subverted: Turns out that Alice just didn't punch Bob enough times. After she does, he starts to be hurt for real.
- Zig-Zagged: Sometimes, Alice can chip away at Bob's defences with repeated attacks, while other times, he remains invulnerable for the entire fight.
- Averted: Alice's attacks do the same amount of damage to Bob for their entire battle.
- Enforced: The writers wanted Alice to win the battle in a way that shows off her refusal to give up.
- Lampshaded: "You might be able to take one punch... but can you take a thousand? Even stone can be worn away by the rain!"
- Exploited: Bob knows that Alice might eventually wear down his armour, so he comes in a costume that lets him move faster once his protection is gone.
- Defied: In their next battle, Bob tries to take down Alice as quickly as possible, before she can wear away at his armoured body.
- Discussed: "Your armour will need upgrades, Bob. Right now, it's vulnerable to being chipped away and worn down by repeated attacks."
- Conversed: "In the last episode, they did that thing where the bad guy goes down to an attack he shrugged off earlier. Though, Alice did hit him a lot and break his armour..."
- Implied: After his fight with Alice, Bob is shown with a gaping, cracked hole in the armour on his chest.
- Deconstructed: Alice manages to break Bob's armour, but severely hurts her hands in the process. Turns out, Immunity Attrition works both ways.
- Reconstructed: Alice goes into the fight wearing armoured gloves. They eventually break, but her hands are untouched, so she can finish off Bob.
- Played for Laughs: With his immunity worn away, Bob asks for a time-out so he can go get it restored.
- Played for Horror:
- The cut that punches through Bob's defenses causes Bob to instantly become Made of Plasticine.
- Bob's appearance, with his much vaunted invulnerability, and subsequent death is a Hope Spot. Bonus horror points for this death being so quick or non-chalant that it adds extra invincibility points to Bob's executioner.
