- Straight: On his quest, Bob is inspired by the thought of Princess Serena.
- Exaggerated: On his trip to the grocery store, Bob is inspired by the thought of Princess Serena.
- Downplayed: Bob goes on a quest for Princess Serena because he has a bit of a crush on her, but he doesn't hold her up as a perfect ideal.
- Justified: Princess Serena really is that wonderful and Bob knows her very well.
- Gender-flipped: As she goes about her royal duties, Princess Serena is inspired by the thought of Bob's heroics.
- Subverted: On his quest, Bob is inspired by the thought of Princess Serena... specifically, the thought of her money.
- Double Subverted: But when the Big Bad comes along and offers to pay him more, Bob realizes that his true loyalty was always to Princess Serena herself.
- Parodied: Bob delusionally believes that Olga, a Gonk who talks in Hulk Speak, is a beautiful princess and goes around assaulting random people in her name.

- Averted: Bob's motive for fighting has nothing to do with Princess Serena.
- Enforced: Princess Serena is played by a very famous actress and the audience will expect her to be mentioned frequently when she's off-screen.
- Lampshaded: Alice teases Bob about his obvious infatuation with Princess Serena.
- Invoked: While sending him off on a quest, Princess Serena tells Bob to think of her whenever the going gets tough.
- Exploited: Princess Serena takes advantage of Bob's devotion and makes him wait on her hand and foot.
- Defied: Princess Serena tells Bob to take inspiration from her and he replies that the only thing that'll inspire him is money.
- Discussed: Bob and Alice discuss whether Princess Serena deserves his devotion.
- Conversed: Watching a fantasy movie with this trope, John and Bernice discuss whether this kind of relationship is actually healthy.
- Implied: Throughout his quest, Bob occasionally takes out a picture of Princess Serena and looks at it, but we never know for sure what he's thinking.
- Deconstructed: Bob idealized Princess Serena way too much and he can't deal with it when he finds out that she's a flawed human like everyone else. Disillusioned and heartbroken, he abandons his quest and allows the Big Bad to take over.
- Reconstructed: Bob knows that Princess Serena isn't perfect, but it doesn't bother him or stop him from being inspired by her.
