Basic Trope: Additional things that can be put on a gun to make it better.

  • Straight: The guns in Tropeland have special slots for add-on items that make them more powerful , more accurate, or easier to handle.
  • Exaggerated: Knowing what add-ons to give your gun can be the difference between a Joke Item and a Game-Breaker.
  • Downplayed: There are add-ons for guns, but they don't give enough of a power increase to be useful.
  • Justified: The add-ons work in realistic ways, like a scope letting you aim more precisely, or an extended magazine to increase your immediate ammo capacity.
  • Inverted: Guns in Tropeland come with limiting devices. You can get a more powerful gun by having a special NPC remove them.
  • Subverted: The Player Character is not particularly strong, and every accessory adds weight that makes the gun even harder to aim, and you fight against Fragile Speedster enemies. Once the Masterkey, underbarrel grenade launcher, barrel extension, fifty-round drum mag, red dot sight, scope, suppressor, and integrated flashlight are all installed, the gun is only useful as a melee weapon.
  • Double Subverted: The fully "upgraded" gun's melee attack kills in one hit, and you unlock the ability to teleport to enemies at this point.
  • Parodied: All the gun add-ons look overtly ridiculous while simultaneously offering weirdly powerful effects, like a pair of jingle-bells that apply a silencer effect, a neon-pink paint-job which grants you incendiary rounds, a comically oversized barrel which makes your aim steadier... Hell! The most powerful add-on is a smiley face sticker plastered on the grip which turn all your shots into One Hit Kills!
  • Zig Zagged: NPC Vendors who offer to upgrade your gun will sometimes add Gun Accessories, but other times they simply give you an entirely new gun.
  • Averted: Guns don't have add-ons.
  • Enforced: The developers want to make it possible to optimize weapon loadouts for specific styles of play, without needing to design more weapons.
  • Lampshaded: "So I just stick this thing on my gun, and suddenly it shoots better? How does that work?"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Laser sights increase accuracy on all guns. Alice puts one on a Short-Range Shotgun, and it's enough to reduce its spread to a tiny cone.
  • Defied: Most players consider the add-ons to be overpowered, and there is an informal agreement not to use them.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
