Basic Trope: Character's objective is to collect all Plot Coupons.

  • Straight: To save Tropestan, Bob must collect all fifty Great Tropes.
  • Exaggerated: Bob must collect five hundred Great Tropes, each of them in five varieties.
  • Downplayed: Bob must collect five Great Tropes.
  • Justified:
    • Great Tropes are part of giant machinery that was destroyed while being transported over Tropestan. Machine won't work without all the parts.
    • Great Tropes are alive and thus have been running wild all over Tropestan. They are dangerous to people and Bob, the Royal Slayer, must catch them all.
  • Inverted:
    • Fifty or more Great Tropes are trying to catch Bob.
    • Bob is in possession of the fifty Great Tropes, and his mission is to return them to their places of origin.
  • Subverted: Bob is told that he has to catch fifty Great Tropes, but in the end, only one of them proves important, with others being Red Herrings.
  • Double Subverted:
    • However, the other forty nine are necessary for it to work.
    • However, nobody knows which one is it, so all have to be caught.
  • Parodied: Bob has to collect all chocolate bars in his Walmart, or else terrible thing will happen... his Facebook will refuse to connect.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob has to collect fifty Great Tropes, however, only five of them really matter. Later it is revealed that other forty five are necessary parts of the five main ones and that Bob's dad has already found them and hid them in the attic. Upon finding out about this, Big Bad destroys them. It seems that all hope is lost, but it turns out that Great Tropes were Big Bad's Red Herring and that they are not necessary to beat him.
  • Averted: There are fifty Great Tropes, but Bob only needs any one of them.
  • Enforced:
    • Producer wanted the show to be in one-Great Trope-per-week format, thus there are many Great Tropes to catch.
    • In video games, this is a common form of Padding.
  • Lampshaded: "Seven found, forty three to go. Couldn't they be all in one place?"
  • Invoked: Big Bad scattered the Great Tropes all over the land, because he wanted Bob to lose time looking for them.
  • Exploited: Big Bad uses the time he got to prepare his Legions Of Doom for invasion of Tropestan.
  • Defied:
    • Bob's father collected all the Great Tropes for him so that he doesn't have to do it.
    • Big Bad killed all the Great Tropes.
  • Discussed: "What if we had to chase them all over the landscape?" "Well, that would make for a long chase..."
  • Conversed: "I love this shows where main character has to catch all somethings."
  • Implied: There's a legend in Tropestan about brave hero who traveled the land hunting wild Tropes.
  • Deconstructed: The time Bob spends collecting the elusive, ever-moving Great Tropes to stop Big Bad could be spent more productively preparing and training for the incoming invasion. There are so many of them that there's no real chance to find all of them, and when Big Bad finally invades, Bob is exhausted, away from anywhere he could help, and unprepared.
  • Reconstructed: However, it turns out that because of Big Bad's Tropemagic, nothing but Great Tropes can harm him. During his reign of terror, Bob travels undercover, finds all remaining Great Tropes and defeats Big Bad with them.
