Basic Trope: A character's spiritual power manifests as an active physical entity.

  • Straight: Chris's ki energy manifests into a spirit entity, Black Platinum, with supernatural abilities.
  • Exaggerated: Black Platinum can release multiple superpowered punches a second.
  • Downplayed: Black Platinum sometimes manifests in the form of an arm or leg when Chris is fighting to give him extra reach.
  • Justified: Black Platinum is Chris's soul, and it manifests when he uses up his ki.
  • Inverted: Black Platinum's ki manifests itself into Chris.
  • Subverted: Chris powers up for a while but instead of breaking out Black Platinum, he enters his Super Mode.
    • After cryptically talking about "invisible friends", Chris and Drake duke it out hand-to-hand.
  • Double Subverted: ... then Black Platinum flies out to punch the bad guys.
  • Zig-Zagged: Chris's spirit energy sometimes comes out and sometimes it just powers him up.
  • Averted: There are no fighting spirits
  • Enforced: While making the series, the artists and story writers were told to make things more "Bizarre". This was the result.
    • A Merchandise-Driven work has to add more characters but cannot fit them into the show, thus giving the existing characters fighting spirits.
  • Lampshaded: "Where did your friend come from?"
  • Invoked: The author wanted to make fight scenes more interesting and decided to include another "Body" for Chris to use.
  • Parodied: Black Platinum is actually Chris' friend Eli in a costume.
  • Exploited:
    • Chris makes Black Platinum do chores while he's home to make everything go faster.
    • Drake decides to attack Chris directly instead of fighting Black Platinum since that will deplete his energy and render Black Platinum ineffective anyway.
  • Defied: "Alrighty then, we need to make a Jojo refer-" NO!!
  • Discussed: "As you can see, my ki energy has manifested as this entity behind me".
  • Conversed: "This is just like that anime where they have ghosts that help them fight!"
