Basic Trope: A fat character tries to lift up their waist to appear muscular, only to have it comically fall back down.

  • Straight: Bob pushes his fat up. A few seconds later, it falls backs down.
    • Bob transforms himself in a way that initially makes him look fit, but his fat soon plops back into place.
    • He tries breathing in to make his noticeable gut shrink. It goes to it's normal size the moment he breathes out.
  • Exaggerated: Bob manages to appear extremely muscular, but once the effect vanishes, he's revealed to be morbidly obese.
  • Downplayed: Bob can lift up his belly, but not to the point of having a Heroic Build.
    • Bob simply breathes in without the intention of appearing muscular, and is shown to have a beer belly once he breathes out.
  • Justified: Bob is trying to impress someone.
  • Inverted: Bob has always been muscular, but has the ability to make himself more tubby, giving him Kevlard abilities.
    • Bob is actually a skinny man trying to appear fat.
  • Subverted: Bob is too big to even try lifting his fat.
  • Double Subverted: However, he does have an ability that can turn his body into a Heroic Build.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob regularly alternates between being muscular to fat.
    • Bob is actually very fit, but gains a beer gut upon becoming more muscular.
  • Invoked: Sucking in his gut actually makes him enter a Super Mode.
  • Deconstructed: Constantly sucking in his gut strains his body & causes him lower back pain, which begins affecting his daily life.
    • Bob's more muscular form is the only way he can actually perform well in a fight, and he struggles to maintain it on a regular basis. Once his body fat returns, he becomes a flabby man too physically weak to even throw a punch.
  • Played for Drama: Bob does this in a desperate attempt to get people's approval. His belly gives out at the worst possible moment.
    • Bob constantly flexes his fat despite the damage it does on his body due to being harassed & bullied for his weight, along with the negative stereotypes associated with being obese.
