Basic Trope: Villains that have deep voices, which emphasize their evilness.

  • Straight: Emperor Evulz has a deep voice.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified:
    • His voice just naturally sounds like that.
    • Evulz lowers his voice a few octaves to create a menacing facade.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Evulz has a deep voice, but when he takes off his helmet, it turns out to have been the result of his mechanical suit.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...But the unmasked voice is the result of a separate voice modulator he used as a ploy to make himself seem less evil. His voice really is that deep.
    • He's Affably Evil and decides to not be intimidating to the guests he's treating while his helmet is off. When he's told he can relax his voice, it returns to his naturally deep tones.
    • Evulz later gets a One-Winged Angel form that makes his voice deeper.
  • Parodied:
    • Evulz's voice is so deep that his subordinates can't even understand what he's saying.
    • Alternatively, Empress Evilla has an extremely deep voice.
    • Evulz's deep voice gives him a sore throat, causing him to frequently cough when he speaks.
    • Evulz takes in a balloon full of helium and still sounds like James Earl Jones.
  • Zig Zagged:
    • Some villains in the story have deep voices, others don't.
    • Evulz has a Multiple Head Case. One of his heads speaks in a high voice and the other one speaks in a low one. Whichever head he uses to speak with depends on his mood.
  • Averted:
    • Evulz has a normal voice.
    • Or everyone has a deep voice in the setting, the heroes included.
  • Enforced: "We need to let the audience know that Evulz is a villain. Let's make his voice really deep and menacing".
  • Lampshaded: "Evulz is definitely evil. Just listen to that voice of his".
  • Invoked: Evulz designs a voice modulator that will deepen his voice, so that he'll be more recognizably evil and intimidating.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Evulz has a deep voice, but then he realizes that this is an easy way for others to tell that he's evil, compromising his plan for power. He decides to use a voice modulator that will make his voice sound normal.
  • Discussed: "Haven't you heard? Villains always have deep voices".
  • Conversed: "Bet you five bucks Princess Crystal is going to be this season's new villain on Tropestia." "With a voice that deep? No bet."
  • Deconstructed: Evulz has significant trouble getting into a position of power, because anyone with half a brain can tell that he's evil on account of how he sounds.
  • Reconstructed: This angers him to such an extent that he starts actively using his voice to terrorize all who dare oppose him.
  • Played For Horror: Evulz voice is to low to be heard, but instead acts as a Brown Note causing anxiety and sickness to all who hear.
