Basic Trope: A character is alive, but acts emotionless.

  • Straight: Alice never speaks, and tends to simply sit around with a blank expression on her face.
  • Exaggerated: Alice is still alive, but is unable to do anything aside from lie around on a bed.
  • Downplayed: Alice has very stunted emotions and does occasionally speak in short lines.
  • Justified:
    • Alice had a lobotomy.
    • Alice was the victim of some sort of brainwashing or mindwiping.
    • Alice had her soul stolen from her.
    • Alice doesn't know how to express emotions.
    • Alice has some form of brain damage.
    • Alice is extremely depressed.
  • Inverted:
    • Alice is an extremely energetic Genki Girl / Large Ham.
    • The above, except Alice is also a zombie, making her an inversion of both parts of this trope.
  • Subverted: Alice is first introduced lying down on a bed with a blank stare, and acts this way for a while, but eventually she begins to open up a bit.
  • Double Subverted: Later in the series, she has a lobotomy, and is left unable to do anything.
  • Parodied: Alice is emotionless or catatonic for a comedic or overblown reason; comparable to Suicide as Comedy.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Alice isn't emotionless.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz subjects Alice to a lobotomy/mindwipe/trauma with the intention of rendering her unable to feel or erasing her identity.
  • Exploited: The Empire tries to turn their entire population into emotionless shells as a way of maintaining order; alternatively, Alice's friends try to exploit her emotionless state to get whatever they want.
  • Defied: Alice *should* likely be reduced to an emotionless state by a traumatic event or some other means, but actively tries to avoid losing hope, maybe calling out her friends for expecting her to be hollow, or for themselves approaching the Despair Event Horizon.
  • Discussed: "Is Alice okay? She seems... empty."
  • Conversed: ???
