Basic Trope: A game difficulty below Easy.
  • Straight: Ages of Tropeia has a "Carefree" difficulty, which is even easier than the easy difficulty.
  • Exaggerated:
    • The "carefree" difficulty allows the player to win by doing absolutely nothing.
    • "Just the Story" is literally just a compilation of every single cutscene in the game. You don't even need to play the game.
    • Ages of Tropeia has multiple difficulties below Easy: "beginner", "carefree" and "just the story".
  • Downplayed: The "carefree" difficulty is not much less difficult than the "easy" difficulty.
  • Justified: Ages of Tropeia is Nintendo Hard, Therefore even the easy difficulty is hard for some players, and the game developers acknowledged that and made an easier mode.
    • The game was designed for younger audiences in mind, hence where there are difficulties lower than Easy.
    • The Easier Than Easy difficulties are to take the edges off between playthroughs on Harder Than Hard difficulties.
  • Inverted: Harder Than Hard
  • Subverted: The game is Nintendo Hard, so the game can still kick your ass even on "Beginner" and "Carefree" difficulties.
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: Each difficulty gets more and more ridiculous as you get lower such as Bob wearing Impossibly Tacky Clothes, enemies dying as soon as they appear and bosses leaving or keeling over as soon as the boss music starts.
    • You get a Joke Ending for playing on the easier difficulties, with each difficulty adding more absurd details such as UFOs and The Dog Was the Mastermind or essays about worms. "Just the Story"'s Joke Ending is completely impossible to take seriously.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • The easiest difficulty level is "Easy".
    • There are no difficulty levels.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
