Basic Trope: There is an entire society with no children in a work set in the future.
- Straight: In the year 2070, Futuretropia is a dystopian society where no babies have been born for 20 years.
- Exaggerated:
- No children are present in any part of the world.
- We see Futuretropia in 2130; only elderly people are left.
- Downplayed:
- There are a few children in Futuretropia; the fertility rate is very low.

- Futuretropia is a utopian Society of Immortals whose inhabitants have stopped reproducing. They don't miss the presence of children at all, as they mostly view them as a hassle and a nuisance.
- Subverted: Turns out children do exist; they've all been kidnapped by villains.
- Double Subverted: The villains who kidnapped the children killed them.
- Parodied: The Futuretropians we meet just pretend there are no children in an attempt to avoid responsibility for raising them.Adult: "Sometimes I miss the children."
Child: "I'm standing right here, dad!"
Adult: "Sometimes I can still hear their voices in my memory." - Zig Zagged: Humans become fertile again...for a few years, then suddenly become infertile for the next 20 or 25. There's uncertainty about whether the next "cycle" will come, since the previous one isn't understood well enough.
- Averted: Both genders still exist and the human race is still fertile.
- Enforced: "We want to show Futuretropia as a dismal and hopeless society, to make the Surprisingly Happy Ending that much happier and more surprising."
- Lampshaded: "Why aren't there any children around?" "All Futuretropians are sterile."
- Invoked: The Big Bad causes a Sterility Plague.
- Exploited: The Big Bad sells evil, child-like robots to depressed couples.
- Defied: After a Gendercide, the survivors invent Homosexual Reproduction in order to prevent this trope.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Implied: No children appear, even in places they logically should, but it's never explained why.
- Deconstructed: Society can't tolerate the lack of children. Women end up being forced into rape rituals so there can be more babies.
- Reconstructed: Society can't tolerate the lack of children. People pour millions of dollars into research for anti-aging or restoration of fertility.
- Played For Laughs: Parents are shown taking luxurious adult vacations and celebrating about their lack of kids.
- Played For Drama: Parents are seen mourning the end of humanity, with many a shot of run-down playrounds.
