Basic Trope: A bodyguard murders the person they were assigned to protect.

  • Straight: President Robertson is assassinated by his personal bodyguard Alice.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice defects to Russia and joins their President's security team before assassinating him as well. She repeats this process with Germany, China, South Korea, North Korea and so on.
    • Alice also murders President Robertson's wife and children.
    • President Robertson's entire security team betrays him.
    • Every executive-level politician is assassinated by their bodyguard at the same time.
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice conspires with revolutionaries and gives up President Robertson's location.
    • Alice cowardly abandons President Robertson when he is attacked.
    • Alice accidentally shoots President Robertson dead while mishandling her gun.
    • Alice paralyses President Robertson.
    • Alice conspires with President Robertson's opponent and hands them dirt about him.

    • President Robertson is a Jerkass who mistreats and sexually harasses Alice.
    • Alice was bribed to kill Robertson by Vice President Edwards.
    • President Robertson had lost his mind and was about to order a nuclear strike on Beijing, forcing Alice to kill him to prevent WW3.
    • President Robertson was about to order Alice's family killed and Alice had to kill him to protect them.
    • President Robertson ordered Alice's family killed in the past. She infiltrated his security team, waiting one day to take revenge on him.
    • President Robertson had skimped on paying Alice's salary. To get money for her father's cancer surgery, Alice attempts to rob a safe, but is caught by Robertson and kills him to shut him up.
  • Inverted: President Robertson murders his bodyguard Alice.
  • Subverted: President Robertson is assassinated by his bodyguard Alice... except we see him alive minutes afterward, because it's actually a plan to fake his death to catch the real assassins.
    • As far as everyone knows, Alice the bodyguard assassinates President Robertson, but The Reveal is that Claire, who isn't his bodyguard, did the deed and framed Alice.
