- Ash the Black Mage can literally nuke things: he can trigger a nuclear fission on command.
- Ash can erase things like they never ever existed.
- Ash is training at using weapons just so he can kill things to death.
- Downplayed: Ash's spells are based around fighting: his main specialty is offensive spells, but he also gets Deflector Shields and Status Effect infliction.
- Justified:
- Ash is a Military Mage, and was trained to be an attacker.
- Ash uses actual Black Magic, which turned him aggressive.
- Ash just really likes seeing things burn.
- Inverted: Lucinda is the White Mage and The Medic.
- Subverted: Ash always used offensive spells, until we find out he was a Red Mage all along.
- Double Subverted: But he forgot how to cast healing spells, so in practice he's a Black Mage.

- Ash the Black Mage can turn even healing magic into a weapon.
- Since Lucinda is missing at the moment, Ash tries to cast an healing spell. It didn't end well.
