Basic Trope:

  • Straight: Queen Sofia is a powerful sorceress and the benevolent ruler of Tropestan
  • Exaggerated: Queen Sofia has almost godlike magical Powers, spends all of her time solving even the smallest of wrongs and has turned her realm into a Sugar Bowl.
  • Downplayed: Lady Greyshade the ruler of Trope city is a Vain Sorceress who's a little too willing to turn dissidents and incompetent servants into snails, but takes her role as self appointed protector of the city very seriously despite her selfishness
  • Justified: Magic in this setting is tied directly to personal morality and leadership is determined by whoever has the most powerful good magic.
  • Inverted: Sorcerous Overlord
  • Subverted: Queen Sofia adopts the look of a good benevolent ruler, but is really a cruel corrupt tyrant who terroizes her subjects with black magic
  • Double Subverted:
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: When her evil twin has been removed it all seems ok but the real Sofia turns out to be a Knight Templar. Meanwhile after period of self reflection the evil twin changes her ways and takes back the throne, but that turns out to be Pragmatic Villainy and ultimatly they end up ruling together in a weird morally ambiguous regime.
  • Averted: Magic users arent allowed to pursue political power.
  • Enforced: A republic chooses its leader from among its magically skilled citizens by subjecting them to an ethics test.
  • Invoked: King bob chose Sofia as his heir because she had a vision for improving the lives of the people of tropestan and her skill with magic would give her the power to implement it
  • Defied: The peoples Troper republic bans the study of magic because they fear allowing one person to hold that sort of power and taking control of the government
  • Discussed: "Man the queen is great, she reformed our tax system, and used her magic to help my crops."
  • Deconstructed: Sofia genuinely means well but her immense power means she never has to seek any sort of consensus in order to implement her orders. This ultimately leads to her causing more harm than good.
  • Reconstructed: Sofia recognizes both her own limitations in the fine points of administration and the usefulness of consultative bodies to get input from the ruled. Therefore, she organizes a reasonably independent civil service along with a broad-based parliament to handle most of the actual day-to-day governance while she directs most of her arcane might towards disaster relief and external defense.
