Basic Trope: The Conspiracy is actually a force of good.
- Straight: After learning about a cover-up for the existent of supernatural creatures, the heroes learn that the ones behind it, The Many Masqueraders, are actually kind people who allow them to look into their daily lives.
- Exaggerated: The Many Masqueraders, upon being discovered by the group, are given a complete welcoming party and allow them to join their Secret Society Group Picture.
- Downplayed:
- The Many Masqueraders are initially skeptical about the heroes, but gradually warm up to them.
- There are some members who are Ambiguously Evil, but most of them are welcoming to the heroes.
- The society is with the Big Bad, but are still willing to help the heroes at times.
- The society is just being Necessarily Evil to prevent the secret from coming out.
- Justified:
- The Many Masqueraders only set up the conspiracy to prevent people from knowing what The World Is Not Ready to learn just yet.
- Some of the creatures haven't been able to control their powers just yet, and The Masquerade is to prevent them from going berserk on innocents or being exploited.
- The founder of the society created the group to protect the supernaturals from the ones who would want to hurt them.
- The Many Masqueraders are only covering it up until they can safely reveal it.
- Inverted: After learning about a cover-up for the existent of supernatural creatures, the heroes learn the ones behind it, The Many Masqueraders, are sinister people with cruel intentions for the innocent world.
- Subverted:
- At first the Many Masqueraders seem like nice people, but they turn out to be bad guys after all.
- The secret society looks like a group of good guys, until the heroes learn somebody within is planning to exploit the truth for personal gain.
- The Many Masqueraders are a group of Totalitarian Utilitarian Well Intentioned Extremists who want to help humanity, but cause great destruction in the process.
- Double Subverted:
- That was only a Test Of Character to see if they cared about the wellbeing of the supernatural as well.
- It turns out it was one of their own, Liam, who was behind this plan.
- As the plot goes on, it turns out The Extremists Were Right.
- Parodied:
- After learning about the group and confronting them, The Many Masqueraders start off by having each member give them a warm handshake.
- The Many Masqueraders put chemicals in the water that brighten peoples' moods.
- Averted: There is no conspiracy to hide.
- Enforced: The writer was tired of conspiracy groups being antagonistic, so they wrote one that was more caring and relatable as a Take That! to it.
- Lampshaded: "Wow, I thought we'd have to go through more to get you to cooperate with us."
- Invoked: The Many Masqueraders come off as good so they can begin to break the cover up slowly but surely.
- Exploited: Liam sees how naive the society is and manipulates them into accepting whatever 'favors' he asks.
- Defied: The heroes go straight to exposing the conspiracy to the world.
- Discussed: "We're pretty lucky that these guys are being nice to us since we could have just exposed this straight away."
