Basic Trope: A cape, worn to look badass.

  • Straight: Amazing Man wears a cape that makes him look more awesome.
  • Exaggerated: Emperor Evulz wears an All-Encompassing Mantle much longer than he is that is always blowing in the wind.
  • Logical Extreme: Amazing Man's cape is not only a fashion statement but also a multifunctional tool that can transform into various weapons, shields, or even a temporary shelter.
  • Downplayed: It's only a mini-cape.
  • Justified:
    • The cape is the source of Amazing Man's power.
    • The cape serves as a flight stabilizer when Amazing Man takes to the skies.
    • The cape is a radiant surface to eliminate waste heat from Amazing Man's power.
    • The cape is made of bulletproof fabrics, it protects Amazing Man from gunfire and he can deflect bullets with a Cape Swish.
    • The cape has concealed blades, in which Amazing Man uses them to slice his foes with a Cape Swish.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Amazing Man looks like he has a cape...and then it turns out he just had a sheet fall on him and he removes it.
  • Double Subverted: His Superpowered Evil Side has a massive cape and similarly has a massive amount of badassery.
  • Parodied:
    • Everyone in-universe feels the cape is badass despite how it constantly gets in the way.
    • Amazing Man's cape is so amazing that everyone address The Cape and not him.
  • Zig Zagged: Amazing Man's badassery, and the badass-ness/length of his cape varies Depending on the Writer
  • Averted: Amazing Man doesn't have a cape.
  • Enforced: It's the grandfather clause of a classic superhero.
  • Lampshaded: Another character remarks, "Doesn't it seem impractical to fight crime in a cape? I mean, it's just asking to be grabbed or tripped over."
  • Invoked:
  • Exploited: Evulz grabs Amazing Man by the cape and swings him into the ground.
  • Defied:
    • "Pfft. Like I need a cape to look intimidating. I'm no tryhard."
    • Amazing Man's costume designer says, "No capes!"
  • Discussed: "I'm jealous of anyone who can make the cape look work."
  • Conversed: "I feel sorry for the actor who has to wear that."
  • Played for Laughs: Amazing Man's cape constantly has a mind of its own, taking on a life of its own and getting tangled up in humorous situations.
  • Played for Drama: The cape becomes a symbol of identity and legacy, passed down through generations of heroes, and its loss or destruction carries emotional weight for Amazing Man.
  • Played for Horror: The cape becomes cursed, possessing anyone who wears it and driving them to commit acts of evil or destruction.
  • Implied: In a flashback, Amazing Man is shown wearing a cape during his early days as a hero, hinting at the origins of his iconic look.
  • Unparodied: The cape is portrayed as a serious and integral part of Amazing Man's superhero persona, contributing to his overall image of strength and power.
  • Untwisted: Despite expectations of the cape being a hindrance or liability, it actually proves to be incredibly useful and enhances Amazing Man's abilities in unexpected ways.
  • Deconstructed: Amazing Man eventually has to ditch the cape: It keeps getting caught on things, it's quite heavy, and it gets in his way when he's trying to punch things.
  • Reconstructed: Amazing man switches to a breakaway cape, stopping it from hindering him... and a cape also has numerous advantages besides looking cool, such as hiding his movements, making him seem larger, acting as a glider or a snare, and keeping himself warm on cold nights on patrol.
    • The cape is redesigned with advanced technology, incorporating invisible nanofibers that can change its shape and appearance at will, allowing Amazing Man to adapt it to various situations, that's why it was heavy.
