Basic Trope: A delayed Extra Life that only activates when you die.

  • Straight: If you're holding a certain item when you reach 0 HP, you'll be bumped up to maximum HP again.
  • Exaggerated: It also heals any Status Effects, and gives a temporary Status Buff.
  • Downplayed: The item only restores half of your max HP.
  • Justified: ???
  • Inverted: There is a risky item that provides several positive effects, but will instantly kill its holder upon reaching max HP.
  • Subverted: Ingame tip says that item will revive you, but it doesn't.
  • Double Subverted: Item not reviving you was a bug. Now, it is fixed.
  • Parodied: If you die while holding the item, the Game Over screen will be displayed... and then it takes you back to the title screen, where it pretends to delete all your save files. If you try to close the game, it will say "just kidding!" and restore your files, which are intact, except you now have full HP.
  • Zig-Zagged: The item will only revive you if you're hit by certain types of attacks.
  • Averted: ???
  • Enforced: The game has some Product Placement in it, and to show how good the product is, it instantly revives you when you die.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: A Puzzle Boss in the game can do nothing but hit you with One Hit Kills, and can not be directly harmed by you. However, his attacks also Cast from Hit Points. The only way to beat him is by carrying enough of these items so that he dies from his own magic.
  • Defied: If you get hit by the Final Boss's HP to One attack, he will swat the item out of your hands to deal 1 damage.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
