Basic Trope: A character is mistaken for a vampire.

  • Straight: Because Alice has pale skin, sensitive eyes, and hates garlic, Bob thinks she is a vampire.
  • Exaggerated: As soon as Alice mentions it is too sunny, Bob thinks she's a vampire.
  • Downplayed: Bob wonders if Alice might be a vampire.
  • Justified: Bob has a runaway imagination and those traits do apply to vampires.
  • Inverted:
    • Alice mistakes Bob, a vampire, for a human, or Alice mistakes another vampire for a human.
    • The cast is made up entirely of vampires, and one of them is mistaken for a human.
  • Subverted: It is revealed that Alice really is a vampire.
  • Double Subverted: But Alice gets turned back into a human, and Bob thinks she's still a vampire.
  • Parodied: Bob only mixes with people who show no annoyance whatsoever to the sun and like garlic.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob flashes between thinking Alice's a vampire and knowing she's not.
  • Averted: Bob doesn't mistake Alice for a vampire.
  • Enforced: To set up An Aesop about not jumping to conclusions.
  • Lampshaded: "I'm not a vampire, Bob."
  • Invoked: Alice pretends to be a vampire to scare Bob.
  • Exploited: Alice has vampire-like traits but is not a vampire, she uses said traits to intimidate people.
  • Defied: Bob refuses to believe in the supernatural or Alice always is next to a mirror when she's meeting people.
  • Discussed: "Bob, I am not a vampire. Vampires don't exist. See, here's my reflection in a mirror."
  • Conversed: "Is this Alice character an actual vampire? She's quite kind for one."
  • Implied: Bob states that he thinks Alice is a vampire, but then we see a photo and it has Alice in it.
  • Deconstructed: Alice and Bob are dating, and it messes up their relationship.
  • Reconstructed: Alice and Bob are still in love and Alice just proves she's not a vampire.
  • Played for Laughs: It is obvious Alice is not a vampire, yet Bob uses Insane Troll Logic to try to convince everyone otherwise.
  • Played for Drama: Alice is lonely due to being avoided by everyone after Bob, who fears she's a vampire, starts spreading that rumour.
  • Played for Horror: Alice is targeted by a crazy Witch Hunt, which leads to her being brutally executed as a so-called "vampire".
