He just wants to say hi!

This is a game about working with dead bodies, and the things that might inhabit them, so it having copious amounts of Nightmare Fuel is a given.

  • The fact that every playthrough of the game is completely randomized. In essence, this means that you can play through one session, go to play it again, and experience a completely different set of scares that you weren't expecting.
  • The first indication that something is very clearly wrong with the mortuary itself happens in the tutorial, where just as Rebecca is about to finish embalming her first corpse, she’s treated to a lovely vision of the corpse rapidly rotting away as it turns to look at her…
  • The Demon's first appearance. The lights suddenly shut off, as Rebecca desperately tries to make out what's in front of her. Suddenly, the corpse sits upright, staring straight at Rebecca before everything flashes back to normal. Rebecca's reaction most likely mirrors the player's at this point.
  • The Mimic, one of the spirits that appears alongside the demon. It's a bone-white Humanoid Abomination with bulging eyes and disgustingly black teeth contorted into a Slasher Smile. It torments Rebecca throughout her night at the mortuary, has a tendency to appear in places the player wasn't previously looking at, and can even appear within seemingly impossible spaces like the inside of a cabinet. It's the page image here for a very good reason.
    • Later on, the Mimic is capable of taking on even more twisted and horrific appearances. There is a rare chance it can show up with three heads, or a full on Glasgow Grin.
  • Every Jump Scare where the corpse starts moving or talking, but especially when it mimics Rebecca's father.
Rebecca's "Dad": "Why did you let me die?"
  • The coffin scare. There's a chance that Rebecca will have a hallucination of a wooden coffin suddenly appearing in the hallway to cold storage, accompanied by the sounds of a woman inside, desperately pounding on the lid to escape and sobbing uncontrollably all the while. However, if you leave the coffin alone for long enough, these sounds will eventually transition to quiet whimpering, followed by a horrifying demonic screech. If you do interact with the coffin (which is the only way to de-trigger the scare event), the noises from inside will suddenly stop, and the coffin will just stand there... before being yanked backwards by an invisible force and disappearing. The whole thing feels like something straight out of P.T., and serves as Foreshadowing to the presence of Valery.
  • If you suddenly notice blood dripping down on the corpse, looking up will reveal a demonic hand that promptly crawls back up and proceeds to destroy the mortuary's ceiling, and the screen smashes to black, with Rebecca waking up in a dark room with an open coffin at the end of it, forcing you to enter the coffin to end the Delusion.
  • This incredibly creepy red screen of death, which has a chance of showing up if you try to open your inventory during a Delusion sequence.
"INPUT SYSTEM ERROR: ACTION ASSET COULD NOT BE FOUND! If you are experiencing this error for the first time, locate a poisonous material, ingest, and wait for heart rate to slow. Your flesh is wasted. Give it to me. Let me in. My glorious pleasures ache to flood your veins as you rot in torment for your sin. There is no hope, Rebecca. You will see me, Rebecca."
  • The Grandma scare, wherein the demon appears at the window in the form of Rebecca's grandmother, and attempts to prey on her sympathy to let it inside. If you just ignore it/her for long enough, she'll surprise you with a quick Jump Scare ("LET ME IN YOU LITTLE BITCH!!!") before seemingly giving up and leaving. But if you attempt to walk away from her down the hallway, she'll suddenly appear at the end of the hall, brandishing a knife and taunting Rebecca about being afraid of a poor old grandma... before suddenly rushing towards you and furiously stabbing Rebecca, laughing maniacally all the while. Luckily, it turns out to be All Just a Dream and Rebecca is unharmed, but it's still terrifying.
Fake Grandma: Don't be afraid of your... GRANDMAAAAAA!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
  • The Shadowman, the second of the demon's evil spirits. It is a pitch-black shadowy being with creepy glowing red eyes, and can appear in the same spots as the Mimic. If you approach it, it immediately rushes towards you and promptly vanishes in a puff of black smoke. It is also capable of taking on Rebecca's image, with the same sinister red eyes. It can appear as early as the tutorial, peeking at you from the window before quickly vanishing, and while you're browsing the computer, there is chance the Shadowman will casually stroll up to you and just stand there, or slowly peek from the corner of the screen just to creep you out.
  • The Woman in White, another spirit that appears alongside the demon, will just stand in the hallway between Rebecca's work area and the front desk, peering in just far enough to make itself known. If Rebecca gets too close, the entity violently grabs Rebecca and drags her down the pitch-dark hallway. While the Mimic can be somewhat silly given its constant smile and how it never actually attacks Rebecca, the Woman in White does not screw around as the most dangerous of the demon's cronies, and her face is permanently fixed in a frightening scowl to let you know that she can and she will hurt you.
  • The Hanged Rebecca scare in her room is significantly more frightening than the one in the hallway, as the hanged corpse suddenly grabs Rebecca by the throat and threatens her while the corpse's face turns demonic, before combusting into flames.
Hanged Rebecca: You should have died when you had the chance! Hahahahaha...
  • The cellar delusion has you interact with a bunch of very creepy looking mannequins. The Mimic casually blends in with them, and you have no way of knowing it's the Mimic until you see its face smiling more madly than usual, before dashing away.
  • The endless hallway scare, which happens when the corpse's arm suddenly moves to point towards the dark hallway. Rebecca finds herself walking down a neverending dark hallway, while comforting messages appear on the walls like GOD HAS LEFT YOU and I AM HERE. Once you advance enough, the Woman in White appears at the end, waiting for you to approach before she charges you. And if you try to turn back, she gets you anyway! If she doesn't get you and simply vanishes, you instead get into the trapped room scare below.
  • The trapped room scare. Rebecca encounters a bricked up wall at the end of the hallway, and when she tries to turn back, the way she came from is also now a brick wall. Turn back again, and the Mimic is standing there, waiting for you to approach it to end the scare.
  • The Mom scare has Rebecca encounter her mother's corpse, cursing at her. And then her corpse starts talking, and then she starts contorting in an inhuman manner while the demon taunts Rebecca, claiming her body is wasted on her, ending with the demon jumping straight at your face, screaming "GIVE IT TO ME!!!"
  • The worst of the Dad scares is when Rebecca is suddenly dragged by a dark force into a cave like area, encountering her father's corpse on the gurney. The demon sadistically taunts Rebecca using her father's face, trying to get her to give in to the possession. Rebecca grabs a rock and starts graphically smashing his head in a fit of rage and despair, all while the corpse is laughing evilly.
  • The fact that all of the scares, while terrifying as all hell, are actually mostly harmless, and Rebecca isn't in any danger of death. But what they can do is to leave you too scared to act and chip away at poor Rebecca's sanity, wasting your time before the demon takes over her.
  • The bad ending, which happens if you burn the wrong body. It plays out normally like the regular endings, except Rebecca suddenly starts talking in a very creepy tone, instantly cluing both you and Raymond in that the demon has possessed Rebecca - and then she proceeds to kill Raymond in an utterly horrific manner. Even worse, it's not known if there's anyone else like Raymond with the knowledge to banish demons...
  • Encountering Valery, the possessed woman in the basement. Open the eyehole to her coffin, and she immediately snaps at you.
Valery: I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU! HELP. ME. GET ME THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
