Nightmare Fuel / Superman: Brainiac

• In the first scene, a squad of Brainiac robots chases people, capturing them and stabbing their heads.
• Brainiac's first appearance. He looks like a terrifying green thing encased in a black metallic cocoon and connected to weird machines. And when he finally gets out, he's actually able to trump Superman, when neither of them are using any other powers.
• Brainiac manages to capture an unconscious Superman and strap him to an operating table. His mooks hook several tubes and wires up to Superman, insert a long, spiky probe into his digestive tract and try to cut his skull open.
• And later they try to do the same thing to Supergirl.
• Superman's fantasy of murdering Brainiac. It's completely devoid of dialogue, and is TERRIFYING to behold as Superman, the posterboy for Nice Guy in DC, proceeds to beat the alien to death bare-handed, in full Tranquil Fury. It's only a fantasy, but it's nightmare inducing.
  • All we're shown of the beating is Superman's face as more and more green blood splatters on his face in each panel. Even with the Gory Discretion Shot, it's still horrifying.
