Super Adventure Rockman is generally agreed by the fan base to be the darkest classic Mega Man game ever made, to the point that Keiji Inafune is outright ashamed by it.
Spoilers abound!
- Dying to the final bosses of Chapters 1 and 2, in which Shadow Man and Gemini Man (respectively) succeed in destroying Mega Man, laughing out loud after doing so. To add, if this happens, the game won't give you the chance to continue like it would if you lost to most Robot Masters, instead going to the Game Over screen.
- The game over screens; normally, getting a game over causes the game to cut to a scene where Roll dies and the Earth decays; however, in the final episode, if the player dies to the Ra Thor, Ra Moon electrocutes everyone, and losing to Ra Devil twice in a row will cause Ra Moon to take matters into his own hands and destroy Mega Man himself. In both cases, the scene zooms out of Ra Moon's temple as he laughs maniacally, presumably loud enough to be heard very far away. (Unlike Shadow Man and Gemini Man above, however, the game will still offer you a chance to continue if you lose to these two bosses).
- Failing to dodge Spark Man's post-defeat attack causes Mega Man to have a Nightmare Sequence where he returns to the lab to find Light and Roll dead.
- Ra Moon as a character; he's an alien supercomputer who not only wants to kill humanity, but everything.
